I was playing with Acid 5 pro tonight and I think something serious has happened. All the audio files that I open up outside of Acid have their tempos(bpm) all jacked up. even files that I did not open up in acid. I have thousands of MP3 files and 100% of the files I checked were all screwed up. Has anyone had this problem? Even audio from video files have the audio all jacked up. Everything sounds like chipmunks. Please help!! email me @ hotglasstile@hotmail.com with any information!! |

I have restarted the computer twice, and even did an XP system restore to see if it would help, but nothing has worked yet. |

It almost sounds like you have a sample rate locked in your hardware, causing material to be resampled on the fly. But as Peter said, until you tell us what's in your system, we can't be of too much help. Wow. Same thing JUST happened to me. I just installed Vegas 6, then Acid 5, then ran vegas, then ran acid, then clicked record, and while the record button was up i clicked play an mp3, then I closed acid completely and closed windows media player then reopened it hoping the beat would be back to normal. It's still ridiculously slow. Grr. I have the Gina 3G soundcard... maybe it's that. But I think it was Acid somehow modifying the bpms of all sounds on my computer. Should I try to call tech support even though it's only a trial? I tried uninstalling Acid and my other Sony products to no avail. Also, I uninstalled and reinstalled my soundcard drivers, tried the xp system restore deal, I still hear everything in slow-mo. Message last edited on4/30/2005 12:08:31 AM byTobus. |

>>But I think it was Acid somehow modifying the bpms of all sounds on my computer. << No, ACID doesn't do this. Please, fill out your system specs in your profile. Please answer these questions: - Is your Gina hardware setup to be your default sound card in Windows - What driver types do you have Vegas and ACID set up to use? - What sample rates are the projects in ACID and Vegas? My soundcard is an Echo Gina 3G, but I just switched to it from a SB Audigy. My sound was working fine I guess until I set Gina to be my default card for all audio playback. My audio device in Acid is ASIO Echo WDM, and for Windows it was also set to use Echo. I think I could probably put my Audigy back in the computer and use that card for audio playback in Windows and use the Gina solely for recording. I tried playing with Gina's console but I couldn't do anything to fix the problem. If I go to settings and change the sample rate to 88,200 instead of 44,100 it makes the sounds play too fast, i'd need to set it to 60,000 or something to make playback normal. But that whole idea sounds terrible. Thanks |

Ok I reinstalled the Audigy, so i have both the Gina and the Audigy installed. I have the Audigy set to be used with Audio playback, and the Gina set to record. When I plug the headphones into the Audigy, everything sounds normal (mp3s are fine sounding). When I plug the headphones into the Gina, I can record and play back the recordings, and they sound normal. But then, if I render the recorded sound as an mp3, plug the headphones into the Audigy, then play the recorded sound, it plays back sped up. My motherboard is a VIA P4PB 400-L (from 2002), which I was planning to upgrade anyway. I have a Pentium 4 2.8 gHz. Should I try to buy a new motherboard and/or processor? |

? So the projects sound fine until after you render to MP3...and then play them in Windows Media Player? What sample rate are they being rendered at? 44.1 kHz? Ditch the Audigy. Keep the Gina. Just a thought on this problem. I recorded some audio from Acid 5.0 into a multitrack software package I use. After I recorded the audio, I played back the audio in my multitrack program and it was like it was playing back at a sample rate of 48khz instead of 44.1khz (the sample rate at which it was recorded). I used the classic wave driver in Acid. I switched to the direct sound driver in Acid and recorded it again with no problems. |
