Subject:SF 8.0 BUG
Date:5/7/2005 3:31:41 PM

Hello,

it seems the latest release of sound forge is a mess and is full of bugs, anyway i have one bug that is PRETTY ANNOYING, i don't know if anyone already exprerienced it :

when i apply an effect to a loop or piece of music, the specific box appear (like chorus, pitch, etc), and sometimes you just can't close it. The box just stays here and block any further actions. The only way to get rid of it is to kill the sound forge process in the task bar...that sucks pretty much and wasn't an issue in the previous version. I just lost a work i was doing (sf didn't recovered it) and i'm pretty pissed off that's why i decided to report the bug (which i have experienced a few times already)

However, i hope there will be a patch or something soon that can let everyone recalls himself how brilliant SF can be

cheers

My post about this problem on 3/26.

Most SF users are using SF-6 or 7 or earlier.
I can understand... I expect... and I can live with of few bugs, but professional software that's, for the most part, un-usable... this is ridiculous.
Lets hope the 8.0a update (whenever that is released) can be trusted to function.

thanks for the reply and link,

indeed this is absolutly ridiculous, i don't understand ... Sony do you even test your programs before selling them ? I guess they must have tested SF 8 under ecstasy or without turning the computer on, i don't see any other explanation

cheers

For what it's worth,

I haven't experienced this behaviour in SF8 yet. Not saying it isn't a bug, but it is pretty hard for developers to detect or fix a bug that is not reproducible, and doesn't occur on every hardware setup.

So far, I haven't had any major problem with SF8. For me, the addition of ASIO made it an essential update - although leaving it this long to add ASIO support is really a bit late for a pro product. The bundled CDA and scripting support were nice bonuses.

Maybe they, and others, don't have your exact PC and Windows setup with which to replicate the bug.

geoff

yes, they surely don't have the same exact config as me although i'm just using a very common one: xp pro SP2, sound blaster live 5.1, cusl2-c motherboard, 512 meg RAM etc.. nothing really exotic really

However, i think SF is an excellent software. BUT, when i upgraded to SF 8 i had absolutly no a priori and soon got to consider this version was full of bugs.. so i don't think it's just me : the version just doesn't work good.
