Subject:Clip Indicators Not Working During Record?

In previous versions, the clip indicator would light when the input level was too high during recording. With SF8, the indicator never turns on, even though obvious clipping is taking place. The meter shows a high level of 0.0 db - but no clip. Is this a problem or am I missing a setting somewhere?
Using a Delta 44 - same system as with SF 7, but results are different.

Thanks

I have just had a similar problem with Soundforge 7.0b. When I record from mic to M Audio 410 soundcard to computer, record settings in mono, the levels act like they are clipping at -5.5dbfs level. The record meters never show a clip light, and the meters never go above -5.5dbfs. The waveform is truncated at -5.5 as though it was 0, completely flat. In addition, the clip sounds clipped/distorted. When I record a file in stereo settings (with mono mic only one channel of data generated) the recording meter clip light works OK (i.e. lights up when spike hits zero) and the meter and waveform levels both go up to 0.0. The M Audio sound card clip light is working OK in all cases. The mono clip at -5.5 is consistant when I record 24 bit 96KHz, or 16/48. Stereo is consistant OK no matter what the bitrate or sampling frequency.

Anybody have ideas for troubleshooting this glitch ?

At least, would a suitable work around be to record mono input into stereo file, then use channel converter to make a mono file ? Any drawbacks with this workaround ?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!
