I like this thread. Really helps with the sense of community on this forum.
Last weekend I was fortunate enough to film two wonderful girls. This weekend I'll probably be doing some experiments on their footage, slow motion, effects, etc.
If I can bang out an Acid song, I might post a video.
Looks like we will have some nice weather here in Madison this weekend so.... I thinks I will go shot some video of the capital.
That's if I don't get sucked into State Steet and the campus.
Actually my major (computer) project for this weekend is restoring all my software. I did an upgrade to a 2.66GHz processor/motherboard and Windows simply refused to boot. So i went back to the old motherboard and it refused to boot on that one as well. Turns out the boot drive was going bad and all the futzing apparently pushed it over the edge. Fortunately i had just picked up a new hard drive too (for no particular reason other than to have a spare on hand). I decided this was a good time to "clean house" and get rid of all the old junk i don't want anymore.
Let's see if i can reinstall and reregister 15 Sony applications in an hour. ;)
Actually, i already did Vegas 6 and did a render test on a small sample project. All parameters being equal except going from 866MHz to 2.66GHz, the rendering time dropped from 305 seconds to 115 seconds. I'm happy.
Tomorrow night several of my family members, including my mom, are performing in a small acoustic concert in the community center across the street from my house. Sounds like a good audio/video project for testing out the new hardware. I'll post the result soon.
Well... now that I have fixed my main editing computer after a self-inflicted "let's fry my CPU" incident(*)... I can now get on with some serious editing.....
I captured 13 hours of a Microsoft technical seminar on Tuesday using 5 cameras... 2 of the cameras captured live to hard disk... and the tapes from the other 3 cameras I have just about finished capturing..... I had in total 36 tapes from the event.
The plan is to produce web and DVD versions of the presentations that Microsoft will provide to clients. What a lot of work to do!
Of course I won't be doing all of this over the weekend.. it'll take me a while longer than that.
And... then there is Mothers day...as our youngest Son is off to college in August... this mothers day has some additional significance for all of us.
*I fried my 3.06Ghz CPU when I installed an additional 1GB of RAM on my motherboard. The pressure I used to insert the chips must have disslogged the CPU or something as my ASUS board loudly announced through the speakers "CPU Failed System Test" when I re-booted. No amount of tinkering with the cpu could bring it back. I purchased a replacement 3.2Ghz CPU... and now everything is sweet again... although the cost of my 1GB RAM upgrade was about $340 instead of the $90 it should have been. Oh well... I won't make that mistake again!!
Cleaning up my edit area - finished two big projects this week and it needs reorganization and arrangement.
Then its off for a drivers ed ride with daughter. She has not yet tried country highway driving and we are going to give it a shot. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can take the convertible.
Gonna take the new Z1 out for HD stock shots and learning curve stuff here in the Rockies. Looking into a new editing station to marry it up with and start down the long road to HD.
Tell all my friends it's my Harley Davidson (since that seems all the rage hereabouts).
I'm actually dismanteling my studio - It is being converted into a Granny flat!. Then I'm of to film the Elderflowers for a short on country wine making - a project inspired by Grazie talk of Broom I think.
I shot a Mixed Martial Arts fight last weekend (16 fights). I have most of it edited now. I am going to Ohio to judge a fight on Saturday and my girlfriend is going to wrap up the editing while I am gone. I hope to author it on Sunday and release it on Monday.
