I'm trying to resample down a concert taped at 48kHz to 44.1kHz. I'd like some info on the best way to use the Resample options. Particularly the accuracy setting (1-4) and the anti-aliasing. It's a fairly loud rock concert with 6 musicians if that matters. What will produce the best result?

Best accuracy: the accuracy control is a legacy from when computers would take "forever" to resample. If you've got a fairly recent computer and you value quality over speed, always use the best accuracy.

Some programs like Samplitude take a really long time to resample compared to Sound Forge. I wonder if it does a better job?

As for anti-aliasing: use it when you're downsampling. Read the docs to find out why.

So Level 4 w/Anti-Alias is 'best'. Makes sense - thanks.

I hate to mention it here, but there is a free product you can use for resampling your audio called R8Brain by Voxengo. It's a neat tool to complement your tool stack and is probably one of the best resamplers out there in terms of filtering quality and options.

Try it at Voxengo.com . The free version has fewer GUI features and maybe one filtering type less. It can batchconvert entire directory structures as well btw, and write to different bit depths as well.
