I have just upgraded to acid 4.0 and every time i try to record vocals, it also records the wav that i have open in the project....WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? I just want it to record my vocals without the wav being heard in the background. PLEASE help me.

Start with KnowledgeBase Article 640. Also it would help if you told us a little more about your setup and what you are doing, i.e., what sound card, how you are monitoring the recording, etc. You could be doing any number of things wrong but we can tell you what without more information from you.

I have my headphones run to the headphone jack on the computer. I have the microphone run to the mic jack. I do not have the speakers on. But you still hear the wav file loud and clear, almost as if it just copied it. I never had this problem with the older version of acid, and i used the same setup.

It is possible that some other software has changed the settings on your sound card. What type of sound card do you have? If it’s a SoundBlaster/Audigy, there is a record mode called “What-U-Hear”. It sounds like this is the mode its in. You don’t want this. You want to record ONLY from the mic input. Did you read the KnowledgeBase article that I linked to? It tells you how to do this.

I have the same issue - with ACID 2.0 I had no problems recording vocals with music tracks. I'm NOT looping anything out of my computer.

1) Have chosen only the mic to record from
2) Using headphones while recording
3) Have a Yamaha Sound Driver
4) Previous music tracks get recorded with vocal tracks.

Read the Knowledge Database and it wasn't helpful.

The only thing I see different is that the device it records from is the MS Sound Mapper - could that be the issue?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Are you using ACID Pro? On the menu bar, click Options > Preferences and then the Audio tab. Specify "Windows Classic Wave Driver" (or ASIO if those drivers are provided). You should then be able to specifically select your mic input in the record dialog window.
