Choppy video preview on TV with Pyro A/V Link converter

Mladen wrote on 4/27/2005, 4:37 PM
I have received ADS Pyro A/V Link converter and I have been trying to use it for previewing the video on TV

I have a problem....

Often, the video preview on TV gets choppy, with green screen poppin on the TV screen in stread of video....

This mostly happenes on generated events or still photos.... on the other hand, preview of DV events is flawless.

I have been prerenedering the video segments prior to preview on TV and it did not help removing the glitches......

I have also turned off all unnecessary services such as antivirus software, cable internet connection, all programs in the background.... still no luck.
Can it be that my computer is just too weak??

Celeron 2GHz with 512Mb Ram and firewire.

Any help is most appreciated.

Thank you!

Mladen

Are you seeing framerates dropping in the preview window when the chops come up? Do you have Recompress Frames enabled? (You should)
Your computer should be just fine for DV work, no sweat.

Would you please explain me how to enable Recompress Frames???

Thanx

This is a known issue, lack of sync with the Pyro A/V Link, and it is being worked on at Sony and ADS, there is another thread here, try search.

The issue though, is related to V6, maybe I've made a wrong assumption that Mladen is using V5?

I am using Vegas 5.0

You should be having no issues if you're in V5.
Can you look on the bottom of your ADS box and confirm it's version "C"? They had some earlier hardware that had some issues with all NLE's.
Also, the DIP switches...are you PAL or NTSC? look to the users guide or on the ADStech.com website at the correct settings for the DIPs and be sure they're correct.

Unfortunatelly,

I have already checked - it is versio C with firmware ver 3.0 dated July 1 2004
Dip switches are already set to NTSC....

It is sooo strange to have this problem ONLY on stills and composited events...
I have tried to play 20min of DV footage - Vegas previewed it on TV perfectly.... even without a voice sync problems.....

This is really starting to worry me......

Can I hope someone has any further ideas??? What about the setting for Video Device? Can I adjust somethin there?

I would appreciate any further ideas :(

Maybe I should mess with prerendering options?
Go to custom button and then.... do something there.?????

I dont understand. Regular DV previrews fine, and prerendered video which is I guess DV as well.... does not preview fine....

Crazy!
Should I mess with prerender options?

Hi-

For those of you who have encountered video preview wierdness with the A/V Link: We are working with ADS on this and plan to have a fix available very soon. We'll ping the forums when this is ready for download.

I am using PINNACLE MOVIE BOX DV and i am with the same problem. In the vegas 5 it works fine.

Is Sony working on some issues for Vegas 5 users or just on Vegas 6?

Also, maybe there are some options in prerendering dialog that can help improve the preview of the video? Anybody has any ideas?

Thank you!

I have noticed that major problems occur when I add two audio tracks to a video.... one for Voice Over and another one for background music.

In case of just one audio track at the time, problems in preview are not soo bad.... but when additional audio track is added, video gets choppy and I have this sudden interruptions in preview with screen going green or blue etc....

Hope this helps.....
