Problems with 8X discs

Even with the latest firmware in my Pioneer 105 the Verbatim 8x discs
sometimes cannot be recognized in my LG-3510 player. There is no problem with the JVC player. The LG has no problem with the 4X discs.
So I bought a bunch of 4X's from ProVantage and I guess I will try a new faster burner. This is with DVD-A2.

DVDrHelp Media Search

You probably already know about this site, but it can sometimes be helpful if you have a particular media/burner/player issue.

You will have troubles using that older burner with 8X. I've got 12 DRX/DRU 500s and 510s between home and work and I cannot burn anything usable on 8X media. If the disc does manage to burn at 1X or 2X it won't play on any of my DVD players. Solution was buy 1000 Verbatim 4X and when they are gone I'll just toss all the burners. My A04 at work won't record anything on 8X either, just wrecks the blank. Ah well, the discs grow ever cheaper.

I have experienced problems with Verbatim x8 printabpe and 105 burners. The discs will not play or freeze in some players. These discs work fine if burnt in 108.
I was asked to try Taiyo Yuden printable discs. These discs seem to work fine when burnt in 105.

I've burned 50 or so Ritek 8X disks at 12X without a problem on my Pioneer 109.

I have been buying the 4x media from Supermediastore. They still seem to have plenty of it. Despite the fact that I have a Pioneer 105 burner in the computer and a rack of NEC ND-3520A burners in my duplicator I still trust the 4x DVD-R media more for now (Ritek G04 or Taiyo Yuden TYG01).
