Vegas 6 & ADS Pyro A/V Link problem

Yoyodyne wrote on 4/19/2005, 8:16 PM
Finally got a chance to play with Vegas 6 & am wondering if anyone else is seeing this. When I preview on external monitor through my ADS Pyro A/V Link everything is pixely and blocky and stuttery - works fine in V5. When I switch over to preview on external monitor through my little Sony TRV-22 everything looks fine.

Any ideas? Thanks

Hey Yoyodyne. I have exactly the same problem, only i'm using a jvc digital. But I can preview it fine in V5 and have V6 open at the same time, switch to V6 preview on my external and it's choppy and pixilated through my Pyro AV link.

I called Sony, no solution, I called ADS, no solution, I believe that it's a bug between the 2. I guess we'll have to wait and see who will employ the fix. I did narrow it down to it being the pyro box not being able to convert the digital to analog; that's the problem in my opinion. Hope Sony is listening here.

Ditto:

Have the Pyro -- yeah, same problem ..and now I might become a "Pyromaniac" if they can't fix it.. Oh well nice to dream.

I read another post here ealier about external monitor breaking up, whereas in 5, no problema.

So what is up SONY, oh masters of the digital realm.. Why does it work in the OLD program and not the " NEW and IMPROVED" one?
HUH?

and it's driving me nuts. External preview works on my second computer monitor, but I use that for other programs. It really made my workflow run smooth to have the preview go out to the TV through ADS Pyro instead. Vegas 5b still purrs like a champ though.

Please fix this bug soon, Thanks,

Chuck

It may well be that your system is seeing more resource use. Turn off Media Manager and see what happens. Obviously, nothing changed with the ADS hardware, so it's got to be something in how Vegas is responding with it, or how Vegas is calling your system resources. Anything else on the Firewire bus?

I had the same problem using 2nd pc as external monitor. I played around with settings until I finally figured out that the external monitor preview is based on the NON external preview monitor size.

Workaround:
when using external preview, change to Preview (full).

I am also intermittently seeing a strange black level jump when toggling preview (auto) and preview (full).

Still trying to reproduce this.

JAB,

Change to Preview or any mode in ver. 6 does not fix the problem. And DSE, hello, this occurance is reproduced with virtually all recources set to a bare min., i.e. solo track of avi, So, as I just retried, this "fix" doesn't help, not with the Pyro A/V Lnk anyway, sorry to say. Again, everything works great in 5 in this regard.

Sounds like I need to drag my ADS back out. I've been spoiled by the Convergent Design box that sits in my rack. I'll try to get to it later today and post any answer I might find.

We're talking with the ADS team about this...and as soon as we have a firm handle on the issue and a solution we'll post back here. We may, if needed, offer a small beta .dll download via ftp for those who want to help test a potential fix.

I'll test the beta if you need a volunteer!

Thanks,

Sounds great Sony, it's nice hear that someone up there acknowledged our problem with the pyro a/v link and V6. That's all I wanted to hear. Can't wait for a fix, and I'll certainly volunteer for the best test also.

Great news, since I bought mine 1 week prior to V6 release.
