VEGAS RULES!

masmedia wrote on 4/25/2005, 12:09 PM
Thank you, Sony, for a termendous video product! Vegas has to be the best kept secret of the professional video editing world! Been an avid Avid user for many years, and have just learned Vegas and am amazed at the ease of operation and the vast mulitude of fx and editing one can easily accomplish with this system! For example: the Avid I normally use, granted it's an old one, can only use 2 fx per event, where Vegas can easily do 32! It's things like this, unlimited layers, undos, etc. and just general smart layout that makes Vegas the "improved non linear system"! Anybody reading the forms being put off by negative comments: forget about it! Possibly, those users merely lack skill. I also really appreciate the fact you don't need a huge, huge computer to use Vegas, but a "normal" one will do just fine! Overall and in detail, I'm very impressed!

Thanks

Though in my case your preaching to the choir, it was still great to hear someone who appears to be " new " to Vegas confirm what I've believed all along.

Thanks for the post mas, welcome to the forum, and hope you'll stick around.

How presumptious of you to say that people having problems lack skill! There are many who have been using Vegas for years who are having problems with 6.0 so you show a little humility before making such an absurd statement.

Uhuh... and this guy's post has that "Avid" sheen to it...

"Possibly, those users merely lack skill."

;)

Maybe, but he said users (plural). Besides which, I'm kidding (note winky). Either you'll get it or you won't... depending on how many Avid users you've told what you edit on ;)

Any word when 6b is coming out? Sure would like to try out what I just bought but the posts I've scanned scare me off. I cannot afford a new PC & Blackmagic card until late Fall so for the nonce its BetaSX -> SDI -> DVCAM for a few more months. The SD/HD version of the Blackmagic card looks promising, just what a guy needs to eke more life out of his BetaSX camcorder and decks (what a HIDEOUSLY expensive mistake I made investing in Betacam SX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) Just the darn dockable DNW 5 recorder was about double the price of that new Sony HDV camcorder and its VTR. Don't ask me about the A65 analog/digital player and 2 A75 Editors. Guess a guy might get 10 cents on the dollar, maybe even 20 cents. Sigh, technology, ain't it great?

aw lighten up guys...I'm sure you're reading a little to far into things.

Glad to hear you like Vegas masmedia. If you are new to it, just wait...you'll continue to be amazed. I've been using since version 2 and I still find some pleasent surprises within this deep app.

Another reason Vegas 6 rules:

Just did a test DVD of a 24p movie I created from 60i. The quality was absolutely superb in the DVD playback. Totally smooth. Especially noted the 24p look in slow zoom-ins and outs. Absolutely film-like.

yea, sorry, didn't mean to put any body down... it's just such a user friendly program I can't imagine anybody saying it "sucks" in any way. Just trying to encourage those who have read negative comments here.
Yes, I've been an Avid editor (by default) nothing wrong with Avid, either, but I'm simply amazed some of the superior effects and editing you can do with Vegas a whole lot easier and there is a whole lot more of them compared to the lower end Avids.
Glad to hear there are many here who have been Vegas a long time and love it! I hope that will be my story someday as well.
I do still use Avid @ work, but am getting V6 for freelance soon. I think it's also great they give you a free 30day trial to download!

Peace

Kinda the way I felt coming from FCP2...

I recently read over FCP5's blurb from a NAB review, along with some of its 'companion' programs (for DVD, etc.) and most of its new features sounded like a latecomer's mimicking of many Vegas 5 and 6 features.

Although there's always room for improvement....

Tried the new updated Premiere for kicks and am glad I'm using Vegas. Video editing doesn't have to be so hard.
