you could have some serious adware or trojan issues which you would have to check out by looking in TaskManager and seeing what is running and eating up your ram - do an I-Net search on anything you don't understand that is runnning and figure out how to eliminate it Programs like Adaware and Spybot can help you track this stuff down - you also hav eto keep updated on Windows security stuff etc. etc. etc. - it is all a big drag but you might have to deal with this I went through this a while age and ended up re-installing my OS and making sure I was sucure from the hackers as much as possible before reloading and using my Applications Good Luck |

> have tried re-installing it like a few times now and it still gives me a shitty error about not having enough memory.. So how much free memory do you have before starting ACID? Use the Task Manager and look on the Performance tab under Physical Memory to see what your Total and Available memory is. Perhaps ACID is right, you don’t have enough memory available. (in which case you have to determine what is eating up all of your memory) ~jr Message last edited on4/24/2005 6:52:53 PM byJohnnyRoy. |

Click here to download Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE (a great antispyware) : Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE 1.05 Install it, and run a FULL system scan. When done, click on Next, check everything it found (right-click + "select all objects"). Clic Next, and OK - now you can close the program - except if it asks you to reboot : do so. That was for the spyware part. Once done, tell us if it changes things. Message last edited on4/25/2005 4:57:06 AM byZacchino. |

What exactly do you mean by "my computer crashed"? What are you system specs? Does everything else work Ok since the "crash"? Does any other application give you the memory error message? Before you reinstalled Acid, did you uninstall any previous installations? Delete any Acid or Sony folders? Does your souncard work Ok with other apps? |

> What exactly do you mean by "my computer crashed"? Yea, that was going to be my next question too. Sometimes Windows gets into a state where it just needs to be re-installed to fix. Have you tried a repair install of Windows XP? If you boot with the XP CD, it will eventually notice that XP is already installed and it will ask if you want to repair it. This has saved my PC twice so far when it got into a state where nothing worked right. It’s worth a try before you totally format the hard drive and re-install from scratch. Depending on what the "crash" was, this may be the only option for getting Windows working normally again. ~jr |

Hmmm... it works with ACID 3. The one thing ACID 4 and 5 have in common is VSTi instrument plug-ins. It might be worth a try to rename your Vstplugin directory and see if ACID will load. Perhaps one of the VSTi plug-ins got corrupt and is causing the problem? ~jr |

It sounds like you need to employ a brute force method and format your system. It may be the only thing to do at this point. (It's easy enough to do itself, though you'll need to backup any essential documents (like your ACID projects) you may have on your hard drive to removable media such as CD-RW, CD-R, or DVD multiformat.)
