Problem bugging me to death

I have a Vegas Movie Studio +DVD. I am editing movies from a VCR tape. The editing goes fine until it renders, and then everything is bad. Meaning, the audio and the video are out of sinc. The Architect says it renders the Audio. I've tried and tried until I've aged and aged. Also, I've tried this on 2 separate computers, one being a Sony VAIO. In order to get the audio to sinc, am I going to have to get the Music Studio disk or what?

Did you capture to MPEG with an analog capture card? If so, I'd suggest capturing to AVI. When frames are dropped, some analog capture cards do not produce files compliant with the MPEG specification. These MPEG files produce symptoms consistent to what you describe.
