Subject:apple's new soundtrack pro Posted by: coolout Date:4/19/2005 9:50:48 PM have you guys seen this: http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/soundtrackpro/ if apple would have been on the ball 4 years ago i would have never switched to acid and XP...too late now. the pros: 1. the interface and basic functionality is almost exactly like acid 2. it now includes all the effects from logic...even the convolution reverb!!! 3. it has stuff folks been asking for in acid for years...multiple input recording, a dedicated mixer page and control surface support. the cons: 1. the system requirements require a new or very late model mac. 2. no support for virtual synths, midi editing, VST, or rewire. 3. it not worth spending at least another grand to switch back. perhaps the acid dev team will take a couple of cues from apple with acid 6. Subject:RE: apple's new soundtrack pro Reply by: FuTz Date:4/20/2005 6:27:10 AM Man, I'll tell you, I've been roaming between the Vegases and Acid forums for the last three days and I'm starting to think that Sony should REALLY put some serious thinking on their products development and, for the moment FORGET about having it's "own" standards like they have made so much in the past (did I say "past" ?! Holy, They STILL think that way ! ). Even with their "nice memory sticks", I'll buy a Nikon or a Canon to take pictures... LIVE WITH IT, SONY... Concerning fixes and upgrades for their software, they really need to OPEN UP and join the industry instead of trying to re-create/revolution one of their own. God are they stubborn..! For the first time, I'm thinking about quitting. That would involve learning new apps again. As soon as the "annoying curve" of actual production gets too high and overpasses the "learning curve" I have to confront myself to re-start again with different programs, well...
