HDV issues aside, Is W2k up to SP4 going to be supported by V6.XX?
I speak from BITTER experience because 5.0d does not appear to support w2k.

So one can capture HDV with Vegas 6 in Windows 2000?

I would assume so. There was no disclaimer on the Sony site that said HDV support was only for XP.

Using w2k w/5.0d here. Am I missing something?

pmasters,

Exactly. I will keep my fingers crossed.

I know it's a minor issue, but I would just as soon stick with Windows 2000 - for a number of reasons.

Thanks.

DOGoodman,

Are you capturing HDV with w2k/vegas 5.0d? You are not supposed to be able to do this.
DOGoodman wrote on 4/19/2005, 3:51 AM
Nope. I should have quoted 'Mahesh'. He was having trouble with 5.0d and w2k. I'd hadn't heard of anyone having any problems with that setup.

Nice to know you do not have any issues with Win2k. What service pack are you using. I am using SP4.
I still cannot render AVI to MPEG2 with 5.0d
It conks out at about 5000 frames. No problem with 5.0b

Now V6 spupports w2k. If I upgrade to 6.0a, and say it works, what happens with versions 6.0b,c.d etc.
I am not getting any feedback from Sony about this problem so my option at the moment is to revert to V5.0a.

I use Win2k sp4 and Vegas 5d daily. Export in all formats (avi, mpeg2, wmv...) without problems. I also use DVDA 2 BTW. I guess Vegas can't access your mpeg2 codec but it's not a Vegas bug per se IMO.

Thanks for responding. I have V5 and DVDA2. I had no probs with V5.0b
I have just found that I can render MPEG2 PAL DVD template with VBR. but 5.0d render crashes when I use CBR. I had not realized this because I always render CBR

Weird. Our company uses W2K for all the LAN PCs, 3 of which have V5d installed. All render to DVD-A2 MPEG2 Video stream/AC3 daily. I use XP Pro at home and have never had any rendering issues (other than double pass takes forever!).
