Subject:A5a: Hanging Midi Note & EQ crackling noise both while playing?

Hi All,
While my project is playing, I begin to adjust the Sony EQ and get continuous crackling noise while moving the eq. Why is this happening? Once i stop moving eq, crackling is gone.

BUT:

While doing this eq adjusting, and experiencing the crackles, the midi instrument will screw up and start playing a continuous midi note on top of already playing midi file. (using reFX PlastiCZ on this project)

Acid 5a
Asus p4s800d-x
Intel p4 3.0ghz
Kingston 1gb pc 3200 ddr (1 stick)
Nvidia GeForce 4 Video Card
M-Audio Delta 44

(All updated drivers for video and audio.)

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I have read that somewhere.

Don't problems such as that get fixed around here?

How about the EQ crackling while i adjust it?

Any news on that one?

Thanks.

im sure sony is looking into that already. they read these forums and if possible fix the bugs.
i have also a crackling problem. when i move events or resize windows/use scrollbars i have crackling. until now i dont know what does cause this... im not sure about the EQ. ill try that when im at home. which EQ are u using exactly? the track EQ which is assigned to every track from scratch?

Yes...the Sony Track EQ...its not like i'm using anything too processor heavy either...so that shouldn't be happening. I also get crackling when i move events. =
The not so funny thing is, on my old P3-600mhz, 640meg ram, 8meg video, acid 4, 98se computer, i NEVER got those problems or anything that is similar to what i'm experiencing with my new computer. i could use a variety of different brand plugs and never heard cracking. Also, i never got hanging midi notes.

It's a sad situation for Sony considering the amount of competition that is available on the market. (no matter what the hard core lovers think, and i am one, there are other options which get spoken highly of by their users, just as much as acid fanatics)

After purchasing this new computer, i'm learning that PC's really are unstable. They differ so much from machine to machine that pin pointing problems is almost impossible. i can't even get a straight comment concerning the huge amount of failures and errors i've received in the last 3 days. NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING, NOT EVEN THE PC TECHS THAT I HIRE.

I'm looking at Apples...F**K!!! i never thought i'd say it....and i F**King LOVE Acid...but this is toooo much....i need to not worry about when the next error will occur and what i will be working on when it does. I'll give up Acid for more stability. I hope Sony Acid takes that comment serious.

If anyone has any other ideas about my crackling or midi problems, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks
M_

i know the situation is bad in this moment. im into the same problems. i cannot use acid more than a half hour without a crash and therefore my workflow is totally useless with acid 5. but i love acid and i love the new features of V5. ill stay and wait. these bugs will get fixed, its just a matter of time.

its for sure also a hard time for sony.. if you see the soundforge forum its even worse how people are complaining. this is unusual for this products.. until now they did work pretty good when they were released. some minor bugs cant be avoided but instabillity is more than that IMO.

as others did mention already.. i do think it could have something to do with the "merger" of sony. my company recently merged with another one and hell - i do not recommend a merge to anyone. this is totally difficult and changes almost everything in a company. i guess that same happened to sonic foundry... new policies, new hierarchy and so on. i personally can understand that things arent working 100% as desired.. but thats because im just after a merger too.
