Just throw here the little "forgotten" abilities that should be in Acid 5.0b. Here's mine : -Can't erase folder track's media (when folder minimized) with the eraser tool. Message last edited on4/13/2005 8:12:04 AM byZacchino. |

the increment counter on tempo-based effects should go up and down by whole steps rather than by .001 when you hit the up and down arrows to the right of the value. |

Also, when recording midi or audio, there should be an intelligent file naming system as in Excel. E.G : I record an audio file name "Chorus 1", then, when I hit record again, it should suggest me "Chorus 2", and so on. Instead of this linear "Record Take X" naming system. I think pro tools does this actually. |

Another one I already suggested : -Mouse’s Wheel function little improvement for both main sequencer and Piano Roll : Actually in Acid Pro 5.0 : Wheel up/down = Zoom in/out horizontally Shift + Wheel up/down = Scroll horizontally Ctrl + Wheel up/Down = Scroll vertically Ctrl + Shift + Wheel up/down = move cursor …So, it’s all perfect and very useful, except the fact that they just forgot that one : Alt + Wheel up/down = Zoom in/out vertically |

Something I'd like to see is a wider scrollbar tab when zooming in, especially for midi. I use 1152 by 864 for resolution I find the scrollbar tab frustrating to grab when really zoomed in - it goes down to a couple of milimetres wide (as measured using a ruler). How difficult would it be to have it wider - say 4-5 milimetres? Thanks, Chris |

Knowbuddy, I have 2 workarounds for you The first one, is to go to the Display Properties of Windows (right-clic in an empty space on your desktop, then select "properties", or Start>Control Panel>Display Properties). Then go to the 4th tab (appearance), and clic on "advanced". Now in the upper window, clic on the vertical scroll bar of the screenshot. On the lower window, you'll now be able to set scroll bar's thickness (for both horizontal and vertical). Set it to 18 instead of 16, for example, then clic "OK". Now re-open the midi editor, and try playing with the scroll bars to see if it fits your needs. The second workaround, wiorks If you have a wheel on your mouse : Hold SHIFT + scroll up and down, for horizontal navigation Hold CTRL + scroll up and down, for vertical navigation PS : 1152x864 is a quite... Ehm... Unusual resolution. Try getting back to 1024x768 (great for laptop, especailly for viewing texts and small icons). If you have, like I, a 17" flat screen, the best deal is 1280x1024. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried adjusting the scrollbar as you suggested. It didn't really make any difference to the width of the scroll bar tab. I'm meaning the horizontal one that has 3 parts, the right that acts to zoom out, the left to zoom in and the middle to actually scroll. It's the middle bit that I find too small once zoomed in. The mouse trick is quite nice. Will definitely use it as grabbing the scrollbar is so frustrating. But I really want that middle bit of the scrollbar tab bigger. I usually use a wacom pen and it doesn't have a wheel function. I don't really like using a mouse. I just don't get why the middle bit of the tab gets so small. Can everyone else grab it easily? I have a 17" monitor - I find 1280x1024 a little tough on the eyes, 1024x768 doesn't give enough desktop - I've been using the setting I have for years and never encountered any problems. Thanks again, Chris |

Ow I see what you were talking about. This little middlle rectangle for fast scrolling. Same thing here, I find it hard to catch, especially on long session mix when you're tired and have a blurred vision. I'd say the same thing for the faders, when you want to lower the volume for example, of -4 db, I use the middle button of my mouse (double-click), to be precise in a mix (i love round numbers). Sometimes when I miss this 2 pixels, it lowers the volume by -0.4 db instead of -4 db... That's as frustrating as your issue. yo, sony, that doesn't mean you have to give us a new toyish UI as Microsoft did with their XP Skins. But you should take this in consideration. |
