I'm sorry, I know this is elementary, but
where is the plugins folder located? The one we put our plugins into.
And once we've done that, will they simply appear in SF?
Please help me with this.
Thanks very much.
I'm not sure how plugins work.

VST Plugins usually go in a floder called VST Plugins in Program Files, but can be anyway else if you specify.

DX plugins have their own install routines, and go wherever the install puts them. They are linked into a system database which is where the application finds them from - you don't need to know.

Installing VST plugs is usually just a matter of copying the VST *.dll file to the folder that Geoff described.
DX plugs usually find an existing or creates a new folder upon installation, SF then recognizes the new DX plug(s) when it is started afterwards. Nothing else is required except organizing your plug-in favorites. (hopefully)
