Subject:A couple more SF8 points - help please

A couple more things that I can't seem to work out.

1. In the recording dialogue box when I tick "DC Adjust" and then "calibrate" nothing happens. In SF 7 the numbers of each channel are shown below - in SF 8 they remain at zero.

2. In the new Batch Convertor is there any way to choose only one channel to perorm the job against? I'm trying to boost my left hand channel volume.

TIA. John.

1) Same device? Same input powered on but otherwise silent? ASIO or Classic? I rarely see any 16-bit DC offset from pro cards, say, [-2, 2] at most. Integrated chips on the mobo are often poor, though.

I'm getting reasonably similar results between 7.0 and 8.0 with the handful of cards I have installed. Note that results aren't even necessarily going to be *identical* each time you hit Calibrate in the same version, but they should be close.

2) No, there are no selection options in the current BC. You could easily write your own script to do this, however. Check out the scripting forum.

Regarding number two, I think you can use Channel Converter to do this. Use a stereo-to-stero transform. Set the right output to right at 100% left at 0%, and then set the left output to left at whatever% and right at 0%.

Thanks for the replies.

On the DC offset using the same Soundcard (Audigy 4), same input from one of my record decks, and same MS Sound Mapper - exactly the same settings - I get 56 Left and 42 Right in SF7 and 0 and 0 in SF8.

This may be another instance of my recording problems wit hSF 8!

Thanks MPD - good thought. I'll try it out.

John.
