If I set up a new project with a time signature of 6/8, will any loop I use adjust accordingly?

nope...they'll adapt to your key and tempo, but not different time signatures. You'll have to chop them up your 4/4 loops and create new 6/8 loops. It's more work, but can be a lot of fun, definitely gives old loops a new lease on life...

Thanks. Do you know if the literature adequately describes the "chopping" technique such that I can render a 4/4 loop into 6/8?

Gracias.

Well, that's the thing brother, it's not just an algorithm or quick snip and cut...there's a lot of math in music, but this is one of those cases where there's no right equation, sometimes you may just be able to lop off the last beat and end up with something satisfactory, other times it might sound like rubbish if you take that route. But you can use the chopper to cut out parts of a drum loop, for example, and take all your little parts and keep rearranging them until you hear something you like. It's kinda like scrabble, gotta keep rearranging the letters until that triple-word score jumps out at ya. I never said it was easy, but if you put something decent together in 6/8 time it's gonna jump out at people right away, just because we're all so used to hearing 4/4, so I think it's worth the trouble, especially if you're interested in it.

As Illogical mentioned, ACID always basically assumes that a quarter note gets a beat, even if you change what note value gets a beat. The ability to change time signatures is essentially a frame of reference for you.

What you can do is set the time sig to 6/4 and assume that quarter notes get a beat instead of 8th notes and do the math from there. It's all relative anyway.
