SF-8 froze solid when I tried to process a short selection using the Graphic EQ. I don't know if this is a one time glitch or a bug since it only happened once (so far) Other apps and utilities were not effected. I had to exit SF-8 using the three fingar salute lossing any non-saved work. I also notice on the EQ, after clicking "OK" to process, there is a long delay or until the mouse pointer is moved.
My other peave is that process' windows are not centered, nessesitating dragging them to get at the right-side controls.

Update:
This happened again using another plug-in after 15 or 20 edits on a speech. Losing all unsaved work. Looks like SF-8 cannot be relied on til these bugs are fixed.
Back to an earlier stable version.

1) What did the progress bar dispaly when it froze?
2) Were other windows/menus still accessible?
2) How short a selection?
3) Which plug-in was "another plug-in"?

The centering thing is noted.

Sonic,
The initial lock-up occured using SF- Process> EQ> Graphic> Preview (real time) Very short segment selected. Probably less than 100ms, 20-30 edits into work.
The second freeze (different file) occured using a third party DX plug-in.- (Ultrafunk-Gate). No chain, Nothing selected. 30 min. mono file. (Preview mode again, as I recall.)
While attempting to select or exit anything else within SF, process window bar blinked rapidly on both occasions. Everything else in Windows, including other app.s seemed to function normally when selected.
No other apps were open at the time of the both lock-ups, The PC is my "audio only" P-4 WinXP pro. (see system profile)
Thanks for your attention,
Rick

I had exactly the same problem (SF froze when I tried a real-time preview), and a complete uninstall and reinstall of both SF8 and CDA5.2 managed to clear the problem up. No idea why, but it might be worth a try. Does SF freeze if you clear the real-time checkbox and then preview the effect?

If you clear the real-time checkbox, then Sound Forge has to pre-calculate the previewed data before it plays it. Depending on the length of the selection or the max length you've set in the config dialog, this could take a while, but there should be a popup progress bar just like previewing a non-realtime effect like normalize or volume or something.

Regardless, it shouldn't make any difference when you clear the checkbox. Can't say as I understand why you'd want to.
