Subject:VSTi automation question

OK, the VSTi in question here is Absynth 3.0. I would like to automate some of it's envelopes/filters (say for instance, the cutoff or resonance) while it is a VSTi inside Acid Pro 5.0. How would I automate those envelopes/filters inside Acid Pro 5.0?

Thank you for your time! Acid 5 is a great product!

ACID does not expose VSTi parameters for automation like it exposes FX parameters.

If the VSTi supports CC messages, then you can send CC messages directly to the VSTi. You can paint these using the Piano-Roll.

OK, I am a bit slow on things sometimes. Could you explain how I could set up Acid to send the CC messages to the VSTi, and how I could control them with the piano roll? I want to change the CC messages even with a looped MIDI track that the synth is using, like slowly turning up the cutoff each time the midi loop repeats. I hope you can help me!

Two choices:

- The MIDI CC that you want to send is the same for each loop. You just paint in the CC for the loop in the Piano Roll for the loop

- The MIDI CC is different over time as the loop repeats. You create a new MIDI track assigned to the same VSTi. This track will have only the CC msgs.

I think maybe in a future version, Acid Should expose VSTi parameters for automation, or at least make the MIDI CC message independent of the loop. No rush, Acid is a great product. I think it would be easier that way, instead of duplicating the loop and changing the MIDI CC each time. It would act just like the FX would: you can change the FX at any time when a loop is repeating.

Just a thought.
