Hello I am at the stage where I either need to figure out the solution to what appears to be some kind of problem with my Mia sound card clipping and doing weird things with SF 6.0e or return the Mia for analysis. It seems one day everything is fine, and a few days later things act like there is a sound card problem. Then a few days go by and everything seems fine. I am trying to remember what, if anything there is that I did helps matters, or if my actions have nothing to do with wht is going on here. Any experience or ideas on this. Thanx Scott |

Lanco, It probably has everything to do with your box - specifically the allocation of IRQ's in Windows and how that MIA is interacting with the rest of the hardware on board. Snap, crackle and pop with sound cards is a wide topic - but it's probably prudent to at least see where you are at with your basic hardware.... Howsa bout some specs...like OS, Service Pack level...etc etc...how many hard disks do ya have? I hope it's two (at least). What driver level with the MIA? EDIT: I remember you posted your specs on another post - this motherboard of yours (ASUS A7V600) runs the VIA chipset, which has had a long and ugly history of contributing to the cracklies in the world of audio. Could be a problem - not saying that is a problem - but I just wish you had an Intel chipset or something so we could eliminate that right off the bat. Even better would be to pop into Control Panel->System-?Device Manager and click on View->Resources By Connection. Expand the Interrupt Request item and tell me what IRQ the Echo Mia is using. Update when you can! VP Message last edited on3/23/2005 2:22:29 PM byVocalpoint. |

Lanco, I just recently learned that there is a bug with Echo cards and Mother boards using with newer VIA chipsets, specifically MB for the AMD 64's using VIA chipsets. What is your system specs? vurus also can do anythyng with your comp, it depends on virusscriptor's experience of course. I have 3 or 4 cases when viruses damaged video cards and HDDs completely down. i do not insist you have a virus but i only answer your first question... |
