Anyone else having problems with their undo buffer? I can always undo an event or two, but if I try to do more than ten events or so at the same time, I get this error that says my undo file may be read-only or corrupted.

I'm using 5.0 with the patch, and I don't recall having this problem ever until I installed the patch.

Hiyah!

I know this is an ACID question, but have a look at my thread on a not dissimilar issue concering Auto Save and then UNDO BUFFER files within the default Vegas Temp folder .. here yah goes:

Might be of use to you ..

So I'm still having this error, easily reproducible, just copy a part of your song using the time selection tool, then use paste insert to put what you've copied somewhere else in the song. Do it a couple times for good measure. Now try to undo all of what you've done. It usually half-undo's what I've done, leaving me with some of the tracks being removed and others staying in place, and then tells me my undo file is corrupt and that I need to save the project with a new name and restart acid. It's a mess, and it happens every time.

Could someone please confirm that they can do this with no problem (or that they get similar results) so I can figure out if this is my computer's problem or an Acid thing?

I already had undo buffer errors too, experienced 6 exception error, of which 2 crashed after clicking Ok. It happens a lot when you include Fx's undo.

I've tried to repro but cannot seem to do so. Tried inserting FX and then undoing those; tried copying entire sections with the Time Selection Tool and pasting those and then undoing them. No problems.

Might want to try completely uninstalling ACID and then reinstall using only the update. (It also acts as the full version provided you have your serial key handy.)

Thanks for trying Iacobus, maybe it's something with my computer, it's astonishingly consistent for me whenever I try to unpaste a time selection. Sometimes it will let me undo one, but more than one and it's gone... Which makes me really wish there was some sort of section sequencer in Acid, so you could try rearranging parts without all this undo-ing that always ends up wrecking my project.

Couple questions:
If I uninstall Acid, am I going to lose all my home-made presets on the Sony plug-ins and all the arranging I did in the plug-in manager?

Is it possible that partitioning could make Acid act screwy like this? I've partitioned my hard-disk, but not sure that I did it the best way.

What about a RAM shortage? I have 512k, which should be plenty, just trying to guess what could be the issue.

Thanks, again.

Hi again Ill,

Pick up the Preset Manager to back up your Sony plug-in presets.

I use to use partitions awhile ago but that was before ACID Pro 5 came around. (I now use two different hard drives.) Typically, you should be OK.

512 K? ;o)

SPD recommends at least 256 MB as a bare minimum. Windows XP likes to have at least 256 MB itself to run comfortably. Still, I had an older machine with 384 MB of RAM using ACID Pro 5; it pretty much worked fine (though slower than my new system).

I did suggest an "Event Pool" of sorts where you could maybe drag an entire section of events and ACID would take a "snapshot" of that arrangement. I know how you feel in this regard as I also find myself having to copy entire sections of a project and pasting them off to the extreme right.

Like Rednroll has said, it usually takes 2 or 3 versions before our suggestions make it into a particular version.

Your problem could be video related. Have you tried updating your video card's drivers (if there are any)? Also try reducing or turning off video acceleration to see if the problem goes away.

Thanks, Iacobus....I'll check out the preset manager before I try re-installing...and yeah, i think I meant 512 MB, someone musta bumped my bowl of alphabet soup.

My video card I don't know too much about, it's just the one that came with my computer (not onboard though, it is a separate card). I guess you can find out what kind of card you have in the control panel somewhere (device manager?), I'll check for new drivers and try de-celerating my graphics as well.

Cheers!
