Subject:Is "Noise Reduction" Included in SF8?

Hello again. I have a question....(see post subject). Well, is it? I was wondering because I was at my local retailer the other day and I saw some guy carrying around a boxed version of either SF7 or SF8 (not sure). Anyhow, he was reading the product description to his buddy and I actually heard him say..."includes CD Architect, Noise Reduction Plug-in and much more". I might not be that resourceful, b/c I can't find anything specifically addressing this on the Sony site, so I was just curious. Thanks...yet again, luces.

No. But there have been some package deals in the past that contained different combinations of products.

The only thing I see is the vinyl restoration plugin which will do some of the things required for noise reduction.

It is called Sony ExpressFX Audio Restoration plug-in. It isn't as robust as the full noise restoration package, but it can do some of the basic things.

I noticed on the back page advert for SF8 in Sound on Sound magazine that it says,

'Sound Forge 8 comes with CD Architect 5.2 + Noise Reduction 2'.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this!

Dave.

Hi luces,
My copy of SF7 came with CD Architect and Noise Reduction 2.0, one of the reasons I got it. I was also woundering if it still comes with SF8.
Noise Reduction 2.0 is a life saver.

No. I'd guess you got CDA and NR as part of a special package deal.

Seems like you'd be able to install your existing copy of NR alongside SF8 (and its accompanying CDA 5.2).

If you have NR 2.0 installed, it will be picked up by SF8 and it works like it is supposed to.

Is NR2 worth the money, especially as compared to the noise reduction plug-in for the TC Powercore Firewire ? Not academic, seeing as how I have the PoCo.

I am nearly positive that you can download the trial. I don't have a PowerCore, but the NR2 plugin is invaluable for me when I have to work with a sub-optimal recording.
