Subject:Import SF7 Presets to SF8

OK, I think I am missing something really obvious, but how to I migrate my SF7 presets to SF8? My plugin chains are showing up, but my other presets are not. I tried using the Preset Manager, but when I set the target to SF8 and copy to the system, it says that they already exist, but they do not show up in the SF8 preset lists?

I hate to bump up a post, but I would like to check again before I start recreating all of these settings.

When I installed SF8, many of my SF7 presets were copied over. It looks like all of my plugin chains, dither, and noise gate settings made it.

My settings for auto time/crop, channel converter, graphic fade, insert silence, normalize, simple synthesis, and volume did not make it. These are listed as Sony Sound Forge 7.0 settings in Preset Manager.

No matter what I try in Preset Manager, I cannot get these settings into SF8.

Is there any way to do this?

Thanks.

Hello,

What build of Preset Manager are you using? This seems to work fine for me using build 17. The steps I took were:

1. Start a new Preset Package.

2. Change Sound Forge Preset Destination to Sound Forge 8.0.

3. Drag the "Sony Sound Forge 7.0 Volume" or whichever, from the bottom left to the top left.

4. Then grab them from the top left and drop them on the bottom left, just reversing step 3. When you do this they should appear on the list as "Sony Sound Forge 8.0 Volume/Normalize/etc".

HTH,
Brian

I am using build Preset Manager 2.0, build 17. I also tried reinstalling, but that doesn't help.

I can copy from the system to the file file, but when I try to copy from the file to the system, I get a dialog saying that the preset already exists (and it say SF7 even though the destination is set to SF8).

Thanks for any help.

Switch the Preset Destination to SF8, then back to SF7, and then try dragging it to the bottom again.

Sorry to hear that. It looks like we had a similar report of this last week as well, we have passed the cases onto Eng and they are looking into it.
