this question goes to the computer experts on here...

is there a way to set a program to open at a certain resolution and return back to the normal resolution open exit.

I like for vegas and 3dsm i want it to open in 1024x768 but my defualt res is 800x600

if anybody knows.....let me know... (PS: i know this can be done because videogames do it)

I've seen a program called resolution manager or something to that affect but it only changed resolution between users not programs.

Can you just bump up the res and leave it there? Is the 800x600 your native resolution on your particular monitor?

You're going to mess up more than the program you want it to effect. For example everytime you change resolutions Windows being as dumb as it is will scamble your desktop icons. If you got lots of them neatly ordered like I do, it doesn't make you happy to have to redo what Windows undone without asking of course everytime you switch back and forth.

I haven't tried it because I've given up on dual monitors, but at least with some video cards you should be able to have different resolutons on each.

I use this tool from ByteGems.
It will keep your icons where you want them, and you can shift resolutions at the flick of a button.
Display resolution Manager

[edit]just talked to a friend on chat, he recommends a newer one than the one I'm using.
