Hi guys. I just bought Sound Forge 8 and want to archive my vinyls into mp3s. SF 8 messed up some setting and had "Audio Devive Type:" under Options/Preferrences as Microsoft Sound Mapper. As a result, whenever I went to record the levels would clip immediately. I then changed the device to SB Audigy 2 ASIO [9800] and the default recording device Analog Mix L/Analog Mix R. Now when I go to record, I have the setting as 48,000 Hz and 16 Bit (it says Audigy 2 doesn't support 24 Bit????). Method is normal. Now when I record, I want to have an EXACT duplication of the vinyl... I have all levels in the middle (lo's, mid's, hi's) and I hae the level in the middle as well. That will give me a true duplicate of the vinyl, correct? If that is the case, the recording never clips, but is not that loud either. So I tried recording with just messing around with the Level and I can get it to where it goes all the way in the blue (on my Xone 92) at +6 right before it hits red at +10. When I record that way the sound is higher, but the range frequency is still not ALL the way across the spectrum. Am I doing something wrong? Finally, after I record I do a File/Save As and do a custom MP3 at 320 KBPS. Any recommendations? Cheers, Keith |
