Subject:Clipping while recording...

Hi everyone. I just bought SF 8 and am completely new to it. I have a mixer and turntables and want to record my vinyls to wav, and then compress them to mp3.

I open up SF 8 and hit the "record" button. The monitor showed very low levles, I changed the preferences to record at 48 Hz (instead of 44) and 24 bit stereo. I then noticed that I only had 11 minutes of recording time. I then changed the preferences in SF to point to my D: drive which has much more space. SF recommended I restart SF for the settings to take place.

So I restart SF and now when I go to record, the monitor levels clip immediately. They slowly jump from 72 all the way up to clip (in red). I don't know how to stop this?

Please help.

Thanks,
Keith

Found out the default recording device was Microsoft Sound Mapper... changed this to SB Audigy 2 ASIO [9800] and that fixed the problem.

Wonder how it changed to the MS Sound Mapper on its own???
