The old Batch Converter 5.0 could zip through dozens of files very quickly. But in the new one somebody got the bright idea of opening the file and displaying the conversion process on the screen. I've done some benchmarks and that slows down the process by at least a factor of 5. If I'm converting 50 files, I really don't care to sit there for 10 minutes and watch the screen flash.

Sony please add an option NOT to display the conversion process.

Hi Danika: Yes, it's unbelievably slow. I was planning to remove Batch Converter once I installed SF8. Definitely will wait for a fix. The difference between the two is significant. I think you may be right regarding the conversion display. Well, hope it's a simple fix regardless.

I seem to notice that SF8 is noticably slower in many of its operations; however, the Batch Converter, while slower, doesn't appear to introduce distortion into the file as I occasionally found in BC 5. I will gladly wait a little for a clean file.

also, where is the progress indicator for the entire batch job? the "status" tab shows whats going on with the individual files but there is no way to see how much of the entire batch job has been completed.

Yes, in a future release, we hope to suppress the display of Batch Converter conversions .... and other processing that takes place via the Sound Forge scripting engine.
