Subject:How Can I work with Acid and Cubase LE

I want to be able to use Cubase LE plugings effects but still working on my ACID projects., I'm not able to do that. Also I would like to open a new project from Cubase LE and retrieve my Acid project but I'm not able to that either., I could the import the individual loops that I used but that means that I would have to rearrange the whole project again. I could burn to track at once but when I open Cubase to import the project, all the tracks imported from disc comes in one single track. So is there a way I can interact with both software? and if so, can you guide me step by step? Thanks a lot

Does Cubase LE support ReWire? If so, you can add ACID as a ReWire device and play your ACID project on multiple tracks in Cubase LE. If Cubase LE doesn’t have ReWire support, consider upgrading to a version of Cubase that does (if any of them do). ReWire is the best way to integrate different applications.

What you should do is use Render As... in ACID and check the Save each track as a separate file option and you will get each track as a separate wave file that you can use in Cubase LE.

Cubase SX3 and SL3 add rewire capabilities, and you can also insert Acid loops and make them follow the project tempo. SL3 is reasonably priced, and is worth having.

I currently have Cubase SE and I want to upgrade, but as a result of the Yamaha acquisition I can't seem to get an upgrade price. SO what is reasonbly priced and where have you seen it? Evreybody has SX and Nuendo. Thanks for the leads. Luces

There's a couple other of solutions, but neither are as friendly as rewire, but may get you by.......afterall, ironically it's what us Vegas users have to do. You can use midi beat clocks, to sync up Acid with Cubase. This will require for you to send a midi clock from Cubase, and then have Acid sync to external beat clock. To wire the two beat clocks together you need to use the virtual midi router, or an external hardware midi device. When you do this, you can press play in Cubase and Acid will sync to the incoming beat clock coming from Cubase and they will play together.

Another solution is that Acid allows you to render a project as seperate Wave files. So you can have Acid render all it's tracks as seperate Wave files and then import them into Cubase.

Check your Acid help file/manual for more details in doing these solutions, or search in these forums, I know I've given step by step instructions in the past.

ACID cannot slave to external MIDI Clock. ACID can only be the master MIDI Clock source.

"ACID cannot slave to external MIDI Clock. ACID can only be the master MIDI Clock source"

Oh yeah, thanks for the correction. I must have been thinking Vision again huh? <wink wink> :-)

Let me edit my last post:

Yes, Cubase LE does have rewire and I'm able to play back my acid tracks into Cubase LE. Now, let's say that I created a project in Acid and this project has 7 tracks., the idea is to transfer to edited tracks from Acid into Cubase LE so I can add live recording (Vocals, Guitar and to use Cubase effects)., the question is how Do I transfer these 7 tracks into Cubase to further improve the project?

Thanks

What do you mean by transfer? Do you mean expose multiple tracks from ACID via ReWire? Or do you mean Export multiple wave files from ACID as tracks in Cubase? (which I explained in my previous post using Render As...)

I'm sorry, I meant, a way to see my tracks from Acid into Cubase LE. As you know, Acid is great to put loops together, so once I arrange the tracks within a project in Acid, I want to be able to have these tracks in Cubase LE so that I can add other live tracks (vocals for example) and also to take advantange of the effects from Cubase LE. I tried to use the rewire method, I was able to listen to the project from Acid using the Cubase LE transport but I was unable to have track recorded into Cubase LE. To make it simple, I want to be able to see the tracks/Loops I create in Acid into Cubase Le for further editing and adding tracks. Thanks

I’ve never use Cubase LE so I can’t say for sure this will work but it works in SONAR this way:

By default, ACID exposes Master L/R, Rear L/R, Center/LFE, 1 Stereo and 2 Mono busses in ReWire mode. (You can increase this to 26 Stereo busses and 32 Mono busses using the Advanced Audio Configuration button when ACID is in ReWire mode). You should be able to assign each of these ReWrire outputs to a separate track in Cubase LE. Then in ACID, insert a few busses and assign those busses to the same outputs. Any tracks you assign to the ACID buss should show up in the output in the track assigned Cubase LE.

Does this make sense?

I think so, I'll give it a try. Thanks

Well, I was able to make my Acid project to play in Cubase LE using the rewire method., but I still haven't been able to record the 12 tracks I have in my Acid project to 12 tranck in Cubase LE.
I went to the Advance Audio Configuration button and I selected 12 mono busses since the have 12 tracks in the project?? I guess. Now the part that I was not able to do is when you suggest " to insert a few busses and assign those busses to the same outputs" how Do I do this in Acid?. Thanks

Thanks for your feedback, I've tried that base maybe I misunderstood you. I was not trying to render my project by using the name of my my project
File Name: Projectname.,
Save as type: Wave (*.wav)
Template: Default Template
I elect: Save project Markers with media file.

after I render my project, I go to Cubase and I try to open my project but I get a message saying that this project was created in Acid and that I was not able to open.
I was reading the manual about rendering and they were referring to the different format a user can save their project for the internet, audio cd, etc.
Now, Did you mean to render the audio/loops tracks of my project? because if that, I can retrive them from Cubase LE but I would have reconstruct the whole song again., I just want to be able to see the 12 tracks I created in Acid in my Cubase LE.
Thanks

Each Bus in ACID has an output assignment button on the left under the bus label. (a picture would be good here) You use this to route each Bus to one of the mono outputs. Then you assign each track in Cubase to use this output as its input.
