Can someone give me step-by-step directions?
i'm trying to pick out the best sections of four vocal tracks into one track, which means i have to copy-cut-paste and then drag down into a different, finalized track. how do I do this?

You can’t. ACID has a structure that equates one wave to one track. What you want to do is bounce the vocals to a new track:

1. Solo just the vocal tracks
2. Arrange the vocal parts the way you want them on their respective tracks
3. Adjust the Master fader for the output level you want
4. Press Ctrl+M to Render to New Track.

You can now mute the original vocal tracks or remove them from your project. The new track will have all the vocals parts on one track.

This didn't help. I did as directed and I am still confused.
I'm still unable to pick out the best measures in these vocal tracks.

OK, I misunderstood you. I thought you had them picked out already and just wanted to consolidate them. Here’s what you do first:

1. Right-click on the first vocal track and choose Select In Chopper.
2. Audition each part by limiting the chopper selection.
3. When you find the part you like, right-click and select Chop to New Track....
4. Paint the part on the track where you want it.
5. Goto step 1 and repeat for rest of vocal track

Do this for all the vocal parts and then consolidate the pieces as I outlined in my first post.
