Is there any way, when previewing files, to preview without tempo stretching? Like when I'm searching for (non-acidized) drum fills and cymbol hits, can I preview them as non-stretched one shots? Many Thanks! Message last edited on3/18/2005 1:21:14 PM byH2000. |

I don’t think this is possible but I’ve often wanted this feature myself so I can hear the original BPM and key of the loops so that I know how much I’m about to stretch them. A toggle button on top of the loop explorer would be nice. You might want to put it in as a suggestion. ~jr |

again.. this is a feature which is in my wishlist too ;-) i RARELY use loops and some oneshots just get messed up when previewing them :-( specially percussion stuff. as already said.. just a little button to switch the preview mode to oneshot would be awesome!! |

that is sorely needed, I was previewing the free sound effects disc I got with AP5, and all the sound effects get played as loops, and often their BPM is set to 200+ BPM's (what was the thought process here?), so you listen to them on a 100 BPM project and wonder if you just ingested some morphine...why would sound effects be set up as loops, and where did you come up with the ridiculous BPM settings? And can't there be a simple search feature in the standard explorer window for those of us who'd rather not have Media Manager running? |

You can try right-clicking a sample (or blank area) in the Explorer and choose, "Explore Current Folder." From there, you can use whatever media player (such as Windows Media Player) that's associated with the file type to open and play the file. If ACID does not detect ACIDized info within the file, it tries to determine the correct tempo on the fly. The only way for ACID to not do this and take the sample at face value is if the sample in question is already ACIDized as a One-shot. I'd like a feature where you can listen to a sample as it was originally constructed without leaving ACID, but make it so that it can be toggled easily. I think the toggle button would be great. That way, even if it's a non Acidized long or obscure length loop, you can listen to it without ACID guessing how many bars it is (which BTW ACID does very well IMO). |

I just discovered that you can adjust the way the preview handles loops vs. one shots by changing the times in "Preferences">"Audio">"Open files as loops if between (seconds)". The default minimum is set to 0.5 sec. I found that increasing this to 3 or 4 seconds was a big improvement. |

i always set this to max 299.9-300.0 but it does still play short samples streched sometimes. i mostly encounter that when using one shot drum kicks. |
