I need to get caught up to speed on the new memory card players. I guess the biggies are by iPod and Sony? Any others worth mentioning?Any that are not recommended? I know iPod is by Apple. Is there a Windows version one can use to load the songs on a memory card and all the other things one might do? What type of memory card(s) are used? Can one use a standard card reader writer to load songs onto the memory card? Loading time of memory card using standard card reader (if this will work). I take it that if one can do these procedures using a standard card reader writer that a person could do this for someone else, and not even have one of the memory card players? Thanx for helping me speed up my learning curve. Scott |

"I need to get caught up to speed on the new memory card players. " No - actually - you need to get caught up to speed on what the correct topics are for this forum. What does this have to do with SoundForge? |

Actually the iPod is not a memory card reader. The ipod has it's own hard drive to store media files. You connect the iPod to your PC to transfer songs from your computer hard drive to the iPods hard drive. Card reader players use these SDD memory cards and such, that are also used in Digital cameras and they work by installing a memory card reader on your PC and then transferring the songs from your PC hard drive to the memory card, which then just plugs into your player. The RIO Sport is a popular one of these players. The memory cards are relatively expensive as to how much storage you get on one. For instance a recordable CD can hold 700 Megs of MP3 files and costs 25 cents and will hold about 100 songs of 192Kbs MP3's. A memory card costs about $90 for a card that hold 512Meg and will hold 75 songs of 192Kbs MP3's. An iPog comes with a 20 gig Hard drive and is a good choice. I also recommend the RCA Lyra Jukebox available in 20gig and 40gig models. They're a little bigger than the iPod, but quite a bit cheaper. Sony makes a nice Hard drive based player too. |

What does this have to do with SF? I possibly want to use SF going in the direction of my questions. Why do you suppose I would be asking these questions here? I am figuring that there is someone out there that is either using SF for the questions I am posting, or at least if they know the answer they are is kind enough to give me a courteous answer if they just happen to know the answer. OK? Isn't that why this forum is here? |
