Subject:Audio dropping out

When I have any vst instrument in my project, while playing it back, sometimes the audio of that vst track drops out for a fraction of a second and then returns. I suppose I could get use to it if it only happened during playback, but when I render my project it also renders the drop outs. It never drops out in the same place either. It's at random times. I'm running ACID Pro 4.0f. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

What are your PC specs including sound card? (you can put them in your forum profile now) It sounds like your PC or sound card can’t keep up with playback. Are you using a sound card with ASIO drivers? (you should be) Try adjusting the latency to make it longer so that more buffers are allocated. This should give less dropouts.
