A few tips for the new V2 reference library.

If you are starting a brand new media library, just use 5.0a and V2 of the reference library and add files to your library. I usually copy the contents of the collection CD to my hard disk somewhere. When you add those files to your library, we realize they are from our collection by looking them up in the reference library behind the scenes and automatically associate some tags to them in your library.

If you already have a media library that includes some loops that were from one of our collections and want to see the better tagging that comes with V2 of the reference library, you have to get the media manager to update the loops in the media library (i.e. get it to examine the loop file and look it up again in the reference library). Since for large libraries this can be time consuming, we do not perform this automatically. With 5.0a you can do this by opening the add files dialog and scanning the same directories again, but make sure you have the "All files" radio button selected so that we don't skip over files that are already in the library.

This update process will be easier in an upcoming version of the media manager (we have a simple "update" button so you don't have to remember which directories the files were in).

Be sure to make the reference library active once you have it installed - do this through the media manager options dialog from its toolbar.

Once your library has stabilized some, you can always turn off the reference library (but leave it installed) as it does use additional resources when active. Just having it installed, but not active merely uses some disk space, but nothing else.
