I have loaded all the free loops as well as those from the "Scoring Pack" for a total of 3,552 loops (whew!). At the bottom of the Media Manager's Search Results window it shows "2,098 items found out of 3,552 total items." No matter what I select in the Tags window, I can never get any more than 2,098 itmes to show. What have I done wrong? |

You must have some search criteria in effect so the library is showing you which loops match the criteria out of the total number of loops in your library. The yellowish "search info bar" right below the media manager toolbar attempts to provide feedback on what your current search is. If there is any criteria that is being searched on, it will be shown there with a "Clear" clickable link to the left of it. If you click the Clear link, it unchecks everything in the entire search pane (quick search, tag tree, and advanced) which should result in the search results area showing you all of your loops. The other option to be aware of is the search results limiter in the media manager options dialog. But from the sound of it, you already found that, otherwise you would only be seeing 1000 out of 3552 by default. |

I know this is obvious, but are you sure all your items are tagged? For Sony loops, did you always have the reference library installed and choosen? What are your free loops tagged as? Get Media exclusive files are not in the reference library because they are not available on the CD's. As we release new libraries and tag old ones, the exclusive loops will be tagged (see this months Get Media "Drums from the Big Room"). 8Packs aren't exclusive but they've often changed the name of the loop (xxx.wav to LibraryName_Promo_ 1.wav, for example) This wouldn't be picked up by the reference library. As libraries get tagged, this won't be a problem. -Suzan |

I know this is obvious, but are you sure all your items are tagged? To the best of my knowledge. I clicked on the "All" box at the very top of the Tag list. |

You must mean the "audio" tag as there is no "All" checkbox in the default tag tree? Even if you check every single tag in the tag tree, you may not see all of the files in your media library. Why? Because some of them may not have any tag associated with them. Using the "clear" link in the search info bar right below the toolbar is the fastest way to simply get a look at everything in the current library (subject to the search results limit, but you can always click the "view all matching" link to temporarily get around this or up the limit in the options). |

I was playing around with the Media Manager today and saw the same thing happening as I was loading in my Sony Sound Series CD's into the database. (I am using 5.0a and the latest version of Media Manager Reference Library (build 24).) For example, I would scan in Ma Ja Le Ethereal Texture, it would find 277 files (correct) but would only display 202. Looking at it a little closer the entire 'Otherwordly Rhythms' directory doesn't show up, hence the 75 'missing' files. (Another example, but much smaller, is with 1,001 Sound Effects. Two files are missing: 'paper russel.wav' and 'windshield wipers 01.wav'. ) I selected the scan I had just done for Ma Ja Le and all 277 files displayed. Looking closer, the 75 files from that directory have no tags. So it looks like the Reference Library is still missing tags and you need to go in and add the tags manually. The quickest way I corrected the problem was to individually scan each the top level directory for a release. Once it was complete I would select the scan to get all the files to display. From there, I would look for the files with missing tags and fill in the information. Once I added the various tags (including one to associate it with the Ethereal Texture CD) everything showed up just fine. Message last edited on3/11/2005 3:44:49 PM byamikula. |

JWF, yes, you're right, I meant "Audio" tag. Thanks! |

I'm not seeing that. For example, if you display the reference library and only select the "Ma Ja Le: Ethereal Textures" tag, you'll see it finds 277 files (which is correct). If I scroll down and examine all 277 files and look at the Tags column, you'll see that every one of the 277 has tags. It may be that you have a very early pressing of the Ma Ja Le Ethereal collection that we are not recognizing correctly? |

No, I ordered the Ma Ja Le about 2-3 months ago. Out of curiosity I re-loaded the audio files on to a different hard drive and did a scan....same results. |
