Yes, we're glad to say it's finally ready. Available HERE. In addition to the fixes listed in the readme/release-notes, there are quite a few minor fixes that didn't get mentioned. In addition, note that there is a new version of the Sound Series Reference Library which was manually tagged by one of our Sound Dev guys. If you have old Loops for ACID libraries, or Sony Sound Series libraries, it will do a great job of back-tagging all of that material for use in the Media Manager. We hope you enjoy. . Yeah big M...did I say ‘Ctrl-click-and-drag’? I meant ‘right-click-and-drag’. D’oh. It seems to move different amounts in different directions. Sometimes by large amounts sometimes so small that you don’t notice it (at first). The amount of displacement seems to vary and so does the direction. Sometimes large, sometimes so small that you don’t notice it until playback. |

I'm still haveing the same problem with midi tracks in a 5.1 project when rendered to WMA 5.1 template. It's fine when previewing in the project but when rendered and listening to it in windows media player it studders if you pan to the rear channels - also I hate that everything when you switch to a 5.1 project is defalted to the front. It should be centered! |

The Right-Click + Drag issue is now fixed, and will show up in the next release. In the meantime, Copy/Paste using keyboard shortcuts or the context menu, and Ctrl + Drag should produce the correct results. Illogical, can you provide a little more information on the "crash while scrolling" issue? We've tried to reproduce this in-house several times, and it doesn't happen for us. I did a search on this in our forums, and as far as I can see, there are references to the issue, but nobody actually provides specific repro steps. Are you dragging the center of the horizontal scroll bar? Are you dragging the edges of the horizontal scroll bar? Are you dragging the vertical scroll bar? Are you spinning the mousewheel? Are you spinning the mousewheel, plus Ctrl or Shift? Are you pressing the mousewheel and dragging? Does it only happen while playing? Using which audio driver model? What kind of mouse/drivers are you using? Any other system specs, or things you can add? The more details you can provide, the more likely we'll be able to determine the cause. i see the loop previewing bug is still not fixed. am i then really the only one experiencing this problem? in case anyone's wondering what i mean, go to the Explorer window and click on a long wave file once to preview it. you see it's taking a second or so to load the file before previewing it. now, while it's still loading the file to be previewed, click once on another sample. result: the second sample will not preview, since the loading of the first sample isn't stopped when clicking on the second sample. this means i have to wait till the entire sample is loaded before i can load a second one to be previewed. in ACID4, when you click on a sample during the load of a previous one, it will cancel the loading of the first and start loading the second one. again, this is really breaking my workflow, and i guess either this is not happening for everyone else, or it IS happening but nobody but me has a problem with it. ;) any input on this one, Sony? |

Before I forget, ATP...I get that issue too. This scrolling thing cannot be reproduced in house?!? I cannot believe it, this happens to me ALL the time, and it just completely crashes as if the program was never even open. It happens mostly using the horizontal bar on the main event window, though it's also happened using the vertical scroll. I believe it's happened as well in the chopper, but I don't remember for sure. Anyway, yeah I click on the scroll bar and drag and - boom - no more project. It doesn't always happen (but I've also 'trained' myself not to scroll), and with some projects it happens a lot more than with others. It seems to increase in likelihook the faster I scroll, and has happened a few times by clicking and holding in the empty scroll bar area to scroll in that manner. It hasn't ever happened with the scroll-wheel on the mouse, the only button I'm pressing is the left mouse button. It only seems to happen when the project is actually playing. I'm not sure what you mean by center vs edge of horizontal scroll bar...i click on the part that moves and move it and it crashes. I'm using Echo Mia Midi w/ASIO drivers, Win XP Home, Gateway 3.2 Ghz HT w/ 512 RAM. I hope I answered all your questions, I will also say that I don't get the impression it's a consistently reproduceable error...it seems pretty random to me. It happens in brand-new, simple projects, and also very complex ones, but it only happens now and then, usually at the worst time possible. This is the biggest issue I have with the new AP5, and I know I've seen other people mentioning it here...I was pretty surprised to see it not even make the list, as I thought that's what the patch was addressing. If it happens, is there anything I can send to you guys to help you out? Like I said, the app closes instantly, so there's no details or error report generated that I'm aware of, but I'm no Captain Computer, so if there is a way to get helpful details to you, I'm all ears. Fellow acideers, is no one else experiencing this problem? |

I did a search of scroll AND crash in the Acid Forum: Subject: Crashing of pc and lost my files!!!! Posted by: Martian <ShowProfile.asp?UserID=38183> Date: 2/2/2005 8:00:11 AM I run Acid Pro 5.0 on a P4, 3.4 Ghz - Abit IC7Max3, 2*Sata raid discs, 2 Gb ram, Ati radeon 9800 pro, E-mu 1212m. I never had this type of problem before with Acid: I normally work on numerous tracks at a time and if I scroll the tracks while playing them, Acid unexpectedly crashes without a warning. On two occations it destroyed the acd file i was working on and wouldnt open it again. I´ve worked on Acid pro 4 before and never experienced the same problem. I wrote the service center through my acid program and send them the file and messages that appeared on crash. They haven´t answered yet (over a week) so I hoped to find somebody who can guide me through my problem. SOny?SF have know about this for 2 versions & haven't fixed it. How can a software company claim to have a professional product when something as simple as this is left unfixed? #3 would make it so I don't have to use cubase or sonar every time i want to record more than one track at a time. Come ON, it can't be that hard to do! FOR EXAMPLE, i want to record a drum machine along with my track... i can't record the kick on a seperate channel without having to do multiple takes (of course these takes won't be in sync because of #2, meaning that I have to do it 20 times to get it right). is this for real musicians or for "play" musicians? NOBODY doing professional music records all their drums on one track. #4. where the heck is 5.0a ??? i can't run the software for more than 2 mins anymore, can't scroll whil playing back, oh, and of course can't load these projects into v4 . SO, i have projects that i can't edit anymore.... great. SO, the only solution right now that I can think of is switching to ableton live. it seems to do all of these things and a LOT more. it's stable enough to use for a show (HAHAHA would ANYONE consider using ACID live? i think not). I have to go into Options_Audio and unselect ASIO, then reselect it. I don't have to do this if I finish a job using the pc speakers, and didn't have to do anything of the sort with Acid Pro 3 and 4. We don't doubt that users are seeing this scrolling crash. We have been unable to reproduce it in house. Until we can reproduce the crash, we can only guess at making fixes for it. Lots of fixes went into ACID 5.0a. Please try out the latest release and let us know if you still crash when scrolling as you and others have described. Peter |

I take it that it's not a problem for you then? I really don't see how system specs are going to answer anything when ACID5, Vegas5 and ACID4 all work fine. ACID5a has been installed, and now ONLY ACID5 doesn't see it. Version5 worked last night. Version5a installed this morning doesn't see it. Besides the almost 90 meg download on a 56k dialup? How about after installing the update and it starts up, a box comes up asking whether to send or not send an error report to Microsoft? Who knows what that's about? If I click don't send, Acid closes. If I click send, Acid tried to start, the error report gets sent, Acid gets confused, and shuts down. Go to restart Acid and everything's okay. Weird. |

Also, I entered all my system info when I registered, I just didn't realize it wasn't being shown in the forums. Let us know if un-installing/re-installing fixes it for you. I have reported the same thing with Sony and they've acknowledged to me that they are working on it. Re-installing worked for me, but it might not work for you. FWIW, my Vegas 4 is only seeing one of my drives. If you check the Sound Forge thread regarding that, one user says his Wavelab 4 isn't seeing his drive... and he has an Athlon. So I don't think it's specifically Sony's fault. I might be wrong. Now when the pc crashes it leaves a hanging tone (half sec sound looping infinite) and I have to reboot because that asio don´t seem to wanna run again. Even though I launch it through preferences>Audio>Advanced>Launch patchmixDSP. Also some of the files I work on cant be opened anymore! Acid starts up and when it starts loading the song it freezes. It is still running but something is keeping it on a hold. Now I have 2 songs it cant play suddently a´nd luckily my production is finished. It is still annoying though. I think there should be more info asked in the system specs like: plug-ins used, computer services enabled/disabled, etc. Maybe a free-form text box to add stuff not covered in the radio buttons. A lot of people have their windows XP services customized for audio; not everybody runs with everything enabled as MS wants. |

I agree that there should be space provided to be more system specific. For instance, the OS header, includes XP, but does not allow for service pack info which is very relevant. Like I have XP SP1a, but I could only input XP. Billy Buck |
