Hi,

I am new to this program so I don't quite understand how it works yet.

I can't seem to play any files. When I press play the following message appears:

The 'Microsoft Sound Mapper' playback is in use by another program. Close or suspend the application that is using the device and try again.

I don't know of another program on my computer that would be using this device. (I use Musicmatch Jukebox to play mp3s and Sony Sonic Stage to transfer files to my portable MD player.)

How do I get files to play?

Any help is appreciated...

Depending on your audio card, you may not be able to share drivers. MS Windows is probably using the MS Sound Mapper as it's default audio device and not allowing SF7 to use it. Try changing the SF7 default "Playback" audio device, from SF7's "Wave" tab, under "Preferences", to something other than the "Microsoft Sound Mapper". Also, you may want to change the Sound Scheme to "No Sounds", from the "Sounds" tab, under the "Sounds & Audio Devices Properties" located, in the "Control Panel", to see if that will help also.

It's also possible that the proper audio device isn't selected in the Sounds and Audio Devices control panel (check the Audio tab). I have seen this device set to things like "Voice Modem Wave" and other devices that aren't intended for normal playback.

Beyond that, perhaps updating the drivers for your device would take care of the problem.
