Subject:SOUND FORGE DOES NOT "SEE" MY BURNERS
Date:3/5/2005 12:14:24 PM

I don't get it. When going to select a burner, there are non in the drop down menu and at the bottom it says" no devices. Nero sees my burners fine!

Does anyone have any thoughts? I have the same issue with CD Architect and Vegas and also Steinberg Wavelab too!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Copied from CDA forum.

I have the same problem, which happend when I added a SATA RAID to the system.
The motherboard has a nForce3 chipset, and it looks like Sonic/Sony uses a special way to see the CD-ROMs, that is different from what others are doing.
Still wating for a solution from nVidia.

Tryspecifying the generic MMC-compatible ATAPI or SCSI drivers.

jorgensen -

Have you been in touch with nVidia about this issue? Did they acknowledge the issue and confirm that they are working on a solution? Thanks!

Ted

nVidia only support customers, so I reported it to MSI, who asked for detailed information. That is one month ago, and I haven’t heard from them since.

The motherboard is MSI KN8 Neo2 Platinum with nForce3 Ultra chipset, and the harddisk setup is as follow.

ASPI
00 01 00 Disk Drive NVIDIA STRIPE 298.10G
00 07 00 Host Adapter nvraid
01 00 00 Optical Drive LITE-ON DVD SOHD-167T
01 01 00 Optical Drive _NEC DVD _RW ND-1300A
01 02 00 Disk Drive IC35L120 AVV207-1
01 07 00 Host Adapter nvatabus
02 00 00 Disk Drive ST316002 3AS
02 02 00 Disk Drive ST316082 7AS
02 07 00 Host Adapter nvatabus

Drivers have version 5.10.2600.446
NVIDIA nForce3 250 Parallel ATA Controller (v2.6)
NVIDIA nForce3 250 Serial ATA Controller (v2.6)
NVIDIA NForce(tm) ATA RAID Class Controller

As mentioned the access to the CD-ROMs were lost, when the SATA RAID was added. Prior with one ATA and one SATA, there was no problem, and it looks like it is only Sonic/Sony that has the problem.

Actually i have the same issue with Steinberg's WaveLab 4.0...yet nero, itunes, cd-clone and windows' own writing tools work fine.

my SATA is mobo integrated and I diabled it in bios to no avail...this sucks!

Had some time to mingle with it on a clean installation.

If RAID is required, there is no way to have access to the CD-ROMs untill nVidia gets it fixed.

But if not, access can be regained by the following procedure.

In ‘Add or Remove Programs’ in Control Panel, remove IDE drivers in the NVIDIA Drivers tag.

After rebooting rename or delete nvraid.sys in the system32\drivers folder.

Reboot

Tried on a new computer using Gigabyte mb with nForce4 and one SATA RAID.
CD-ROM is still not available on this setup.

A8N-SLI NVidia 4 chipset. Neither Acid 5, nor DVD Architect 3 see my Pioneer A07, but Nero 6 sees it and burns DVD Architect projects just fine. i do have a sata raid, and i also have a promise Ultra 100 controller that hosts a software raid set. i seem to recall that i even hooked up the Pioneer to the Promise, but DVD Architect still didn´t see the drive. i may repeat this experiment with the latest NVidia drivers.

Have you found a solution yet? I have the same problem with SF6.
