VASST Contest is on...

Spot|DSE wrote on 3/1/2005, 4:15 PM
Gentlemen (and ladies) start your NLE's! The VASST 10 second contest is on. Go to the VASST site for rules and information. www.vasst.com
Great prizes, great fun.
We took the recommendation of the forum and made the voting anonymous, so you'll be voting only on content. We also set it up so that you can upload your own vids rather than us screening them first.

Good luck!

DSE, per previous instructions I e-mailed my entry yesterday.

Do I need to resubmit via the VASST site?

John, please do...only because it's in keeping with fairness. We've had four entries so far, but I've asked TJ to mail everyone and ask them to resubmit. He may not have done so just yet. He can't submit them for you, because anyone with a vasst or sundance mail address is prevented from submitting.
Sorry for the hassle!
PossibilityX wrote on 3/1/2005, 4:55 PM
OK, thank you, Douglas.

Will resubmit via VASST site.

2 Questions?

You had said up to 5 entries, the site seems to indicate 1?

Second, my files is 256KB, but over the 300KB max file size (per error message), as it comes in at 420KB. Is that an rule too, or an upload problem? Note - I did email TJ about this one.

Is there a list of prizes?
Spot|DSE wrote on 3/1/2005, 6:52 PM
Prizes are listed on the VASST site when you look at/enter the contest page.

thanks. Didn't see it there. :)

What exactly does it mean by:

"Must contain some sort of relevance to Sony Vegas software"?

Thanks!
Spot|DSE wrote on 3/1/2005, 7:31 PM
Just that. A Vegas bug, a 10 second commercial about Vegas, a box in the background, whatever. In some form, fashion, method, visual, audible, both, whatever.....it needs to have Vegas in the 10 second spot.

product placement. ;) gotchya!
busterkeaton wrote on 3/1/2005, 8:19 PM
I saw Hotel Rwanda recently. The beer the genocidaires drink is very recognizeable from the labels. It may have even been mentioned once. The scotch is very recognizable too. I thought that is bad product placement.

Can anybody point me to pic of the front of the Vegas 5 box that is straight on? I downloaded Vegas 5 so I don't have the box and the ones I see from Sony are at an angle.

I just straightened them out with Paint Shop Pro 8 perspective correction tool and it looks pretty good.

Spot,
I get to the site page where the contest announcement and rules are but I can't see anywhere to upload a file or to vote for videos. I guess I'm missing something. Any ideas?
Randy

yea Ocratek

it doesn't have a max file size rule limit posted. just says it has to be wmv 256kbps.

might be an max upload limit set on the website, i think i'll give this contest a good ole college try :-) i think raising it to 500k should please everybody

Click the "Enter To Win" button, that gets you there.
There is a filesize limit of 450K on the submitted file.
Orcatek wrote on 3/2/2005, 7:13 AM
Thanks
PossibilityX wrote on 3/2/2005, 9:47 AM
DSE, when can we start viewing the entries?

Also, I had to resubmit because I wasn't aware of the 450K file-size limit. My mistake.

I assume my first entry was automatically rejected and the second submission won't cause any confusion or problems...?

"There should be a "contest" to see who can accurately say how many posts in the past couple years contain information about VASST and other DSE self-promoting than manage to end up in SONY's forum.

a) over 100
b) over 200
c) not even close, way more than that"

I'd add:
d) It doesn't matter. Vegas users benefit from the information DSE provides.
Spot|DSE wrote on 3/2/2005, 10:14 AM
If you're doing a 10 second file that follows the 256kpbs rule, you are easily inside the limit. (or should be)
Jay Gladwell wrote on 3/2/2005, 1:56 PM
Edward, check out the letter "g" in Vegas and then in Trebuchet. There is a style difference there. Close, but no cigar! ;o)

[EDIT]
It looks closer to Humanist 777 BT that has been bolded. But the "a" appears to be slightly different.
