Subject:Media Manager? I've removed it . . Can't get it initialized ..

What am I missing from NOT using this?

I have removed it because I can't get Acid5 or Windows to organise itself to use the SQL. I've read the threads here on this subject, and I have decided to it is well beyond my meagre PC abilities.

So, dear friends, what AM I missing?

Why is it that sometimes this stuff can be real hard? Otherwise Acid 5 so far is behaving itself. I've even got my Shuttle Pro operating!

Had you gotten it to work, you would have been missing an exceptional feature for finding media. The Media Manager allows you to “tag” ALL of your loops with information about them like, instrument, genre, beats, artist, etc. This is regardless of where they are in the many loop libraries on your file system. Then when you need a Reggae Bass part that’s 8 beats in the key of E, you just go to the Media Manager, select your query and it will show you all of the loops that match your criteria in seconds, rather than hours of browsing through your 20,000 loop library.

Think of the Media Manager as the “Google of media”. Once you try it, you’ll wonder how you ever found loops without it. It is a BIG productivity tool once its set up. I would bet that most people are only using a small fraction of their loop libraries because they can never find the loop they need even though it is in there and so they keep going back to the same small set of loops.

So the Media Manager equates to increased productivity and more thorough usage of loop libraries. Take an afternoon and play with it. Install the Sony Reference Library so that when you scan your Sony loop libraries they get automatically tagged. This reference library makes setting up the Media Manager a snap. Obviously I love having it. I think it was a stroke of genius on Sony’s part to put the power of a relational database at our fingertips.
