Finalis provides transparent peak limiting and loudness maximization with a simple interface and an intelligent processing engine that gives instant results. To accommodate a wide range of audio material, Finalis offers three distinct psycho-acoustic limiting algorithms. With a click of a button, you can audition each limiting effect, switching between limiting types at will. Finalis' Reaction and Release controls are used to fine-tune the response of each limiting algorithm.

In addition to smooth limiting, Finalis gives you comprehensive input and output metering. Standard Peak, Peak Hold, and RMS meters are all included. New to the club is the crest factor meter. Finalis' innovative Crest Factor Meters provide a quantifiable indication of how your audio dynamics are being affected by the limiter settings. Though it is not a common tool, the crest factor can be invaluable when trying to find the proper balance between audio loudness and dynamic range. Crest Factor is described more fully in the Finalis User's Guide.

I don't own the UAD but its a very good alternative to Waves L2.

Great looking
Comprehensive
Excellent sounding (especially for vocals, reminds me a bit the Distressor's way, which is so great)
Stable

Compared to Waves L2, it's far better than their ID3 technology to my ears ^^.
Compared to Voxengo Elephant, it's less aggressive, more subtle, which is good since the best limiter are the subtle one !

dude, i'm so surpised you don't have at least one UAD card.

i know you're running PT, but the UAD is a great value versus those expensive digi plugs or the waves stuff.

the TDM versions of the LA-2A, 1176, or fairchild plugs cost almost as much (or more) as a UAD card itself and UA keeps their additional plugins really cheap most are around 150 bucks.
