I am running my zoom 606 multi fx straight into the mic input. I cant hear my guitar playing! It does work though because when i play back the recording it sounds fine. Help?

I Heard that I should 'make sure that the line level input is turned up in whatever software you are using'. How would I do that in soundforge?

Thanks

Sounds to me like you are referring to something in Windows: double-click on the little speaker icon down in the corner of your screen. Line-In is under Options.

If you are referring to the Record dialog, no, you won't hear the input. In most editing setups, you'd want to monitor directly from the source.

This has been a small source of confusion, so software input monitoring (the behavior you expect) has been added as an option in Sound Forge 8.0.

Assuming you are going to want to record more than just solo guitar parts, I can tell you that laying down tracks and trying to do multi-track kinds of tasks in Sound Forge will be an exercise in frustration.

NLE tools like Vegas/Sonar/ProTools/etc. are designed for this workflow. Sound Forge is a two track editor with some interesting recording features (timer, threshold, etc.), but it is not really designed for tracking.
