Whenever I edit .wavs in AcidPro 4.0, I frequently experience a clicking/popping sound, no matter how much I fade the edges of the wav. This clicking/popping sounds also carries over into rendered mp3's wav's and such. Is there any way I can get rid of this problem? Thank you. |

Can you elaborate on what you mean by “edit .wavs”? Are these loops that you have recorded in ACID or are the wavs you created with some other program. If so, what program? What kind of “edits” are you referring to. Just making them longer and shorter? Is the clicking/popping only where it loops? Are they ACIDized files (i.e., do they contain ACID metadata)? It would be helpful to know a little more where the wavs came from and what you are doing with them. ~jr |

In addition to what JohnnyRoy said, let us know what kind of audio hardware you are using. If quick fade edges or fades in general aren't helping, it could be a sound card driver problem. Thank you for helping me out. My soundcard is an SB Audigy 2 ZS. I also have the sister SB Audigy drive. This problems occurs mostly on two different occasions: one, when I open a .wav "loop" into Acid and then cut the .wav within the program (in most cases a beat in which I seperate kick from snare for arrangement purposes), the edited piece of the wave is accompanied by a quick clicking/popping sound. The other occassion where this problem occurs is when I open certain one-shots. When this happens, I usually just extend the fade-in of the one-shot .wav, however, in playback there are still instances of that same clicking/pop. Again, this problem carries over into rendered files. |

Also, some .wav's I use are an exported FL Studio wave, or recorded into Acid itself via microphone, or just a .wav sample taken from some other souce (internet, mp3, etc.) And I "edit" these .wav's using the AcidPro cursor, chop them up, and re-arrange/sequence them. The clicking/popping sound usually happens at the start of a .wav. Thanks again for your help! |

What do you have the project audio settings at? They should be set to 48,000Hz sample rate with 16-Bit sample depth to match the Audgy’s internal hardware capabilities. Are you using the ASIO drivers (i.e., Creative ASIO)? This will give you best performance. ~jr |

Is it possible that by chopping/re-arranging the loops, the match points (beginning and ending of a loop) no longer match, making popping/clicking sounds? Mario |

I experienced it a lot when I worked on AP4. I never found the reason so I´m looking 4-ward to seeing the replies ;-) |

After reading up on SB Audigy 2 ZS's in your other threads, I know to set my projects at 48/16. The problem still persists. I have an ASIO also. Regardless of when I chop and sequence loops, the one-shots also click, right when the playback reads the wave. A friend suggested that their may be some sort of configuring method that might allow my computer to read these .wav's within the program with more ease. Something about a "memory buffer" or something. I've been using this ACID software for about 4 months now, and the problem seems to only be getting worse. A friend of mine also experiences this problem. He's also eager to find an end to that debilitating click/pop. |

I know that when I used to use ACID Pro 4, I never had such a problem with clicks/pops (which may have been because of my sound card). Try increasing the ASIO buffer. (Options > Preferences > Audio tab; click the "Advanced" button; click the "Configure" button.) If increasing the buffer doesn't help, try decreasing. (You may have to find a happy medium, as increasing the buffer too much can create problems as well.) I've configured up and down and I still hear clicking in varied amounts. I found a check-box in the General section of Preferences that says "use slower updates to prevent playback clicks during editing". Now, although selecting this option didn't help, I think it may have something to do with my problem, because playback clicks during editing are my problem! |

I would make sure that the creative drivers are the most up to date as possible. When I bought my EMU 1820m there was an online fix for a clicking/popping problem that occured when recording (EMU is a subsidiary of Creative). Also, I am surprised that no one asked you this already....Are you making sure that your loops start and end at "zero crossings" ? Open your loop in the chopper & zoom in on them... if the wave form doesn't start or end EXACTLY at the zero crossing (the line in the middle) you will get clicking/popping. Sound Forge is a real handy tool for loop making as it has an "auto snap to zero" feature that just makes life easier all the way around. |
