ok, i have tried installing ACID on my laptop, which is an Averatec 3200 series with Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 installed. i have 512mb RAM and an AMD Athlon(m) XP-M 2000+ processor. i am running DirectX 9c if i install Sony ACID 4 or 5 (Xpress and Pro does the same thing), they crash while trying to start up. the splash logo comes up and i get the error message that refers to "sfdlssynth.dll", same as i saw several others around here run into. i can remove the DLL from the folder and it will actually start, but also like the others, it will not play anything. if i install the Sonic Foundry version of ACID 3 or 4(build 215), then the programs will start just fine, and i can load songs, export as WAV and render tracks to WAV, but as soon as i hit the play button, they crash on me too. i can install Acid 2, and it seems to work fine...but come on, its Acid 2. has anyone figured out the way to fix the "sfdlssynth.dll" problem? i saw most of the threads concerning it were from 2003, so i was hoping there was a fix or patch by now. i bought my laptop last May to be able to work on my writing, art and music at work, but i seem to be stuck in the music department. by the way, i tried taking my video accleration down in increments until it was off and that didnt work either. |

When you uninstall ACID, do you delete the related folders (if they exist)? (Both, by default, "C:\Program Files\Sony\ACID Pro 5.0" and "C:\Program Files\Sony Setup\ACID Pro 5.0".) Sounds like the DLL got corrupted somehow. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid Buy Instant ACID by JohnnyRoy and mD! Now! mD at ACIDplanet |

well, the first time i tried installing it to my laptop, i used the same copy that installed just fine to my desktop, but i have tried several different versions of Acid, all with the same results. i have tried installing over old copies, uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting all folders, and even running a prgram (Ace Utilities) to clean the registry, all "unlinked" files and icons, and all temporary files. |
