Subject:Dr-008, Slicy/Fill-in Drummer and Acid Pro 5.0.....Big Problem!

I love Slicydrummer and and Fill-indrummer by Music Lab. If you are not familiar with them, they are drum loop midi plug-ins. They have with a collection of midi drum loops (hi-hat, kick. snare, etc.), and they can combine them on the fly to make new drum patterns. They both use the Cakewalk MFX midi plug-in standard. If one wishes to run them in Acid Pro you need to also have DR-008 to host them, since Acid doesn't support the MFX standard. You just load DR-008 into Acid Pro like a regular VST instrument, you then load Slicy and Fill-in into the drum cells in place of the regular drum sounds. Each instance of Slicy/Fillin has a different drum pattern in it, and you can load as many instances in DR-008 as you need. To trigger each seperate pattern, you simply insert a midi note into the Acid midi editor that corresponds to that cells midi pitch, and Slicy/Fill-in will play for the duration of that note. This all works fine until I select another soft synth in Acid and then go back to the DR-008. In somewhere between 2 and 6 seconds after returning, all of the instances of Slicy/Fill-in disappear from befor my very eyes. Gone! Poof! This is very disappointing since one of the reasons that I purchased DR-008 was to be able to run Slicy/Fill-in in Acid Pro (and also EnergyXT). For my purposes, that would have made Acid the ultimate beat machine. Anything that can be done about it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. In all other respects Acid Pro functions excellently on my machine, and I don't have any other complaints about it or problems with it.

Thanks

Did you contact FXpansion and MusicLab? What did they tell you?

ACID is not hosting these, DR-008 is, so it has to be an issue with DR-008. I can't see how ACID has any control over this.

Peter:

Thank you very much for your prompt response. The main reason I contacted you first was that this behavior only seems to happen in Acid Pro. I do see your point, though. I will indeed contact Music Lab and FXpansion. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks, again.

I use DR-008 and Slicey/FIll-In Drummer as well but I haven't tried them in ACID5. I will tonight and report back.

Hello, Peter:

I think that I have eliminated atleast one variable from the equation. It seems that all of the synth modules in DR-008 disappear when I use it in Acid Pro (both 5.0 and 4.0), not just Slicy/Fillin Drummers. (This does not seem to happen when the modules are part of a factory kit, just when they are user-loaded.) I notified Angus Hewlet of FXpansion, and he appeared to be at a loss for what to say, and suggested that I submit a bug report with you people at Sony. Would it be possible for someone on your end to download the DR-008 demo and give it a go to see if you can reproduce the problem there?

Thank you

I will ask our QA to have a look, but if DR-008 is not doing something when you tell it to do something, then I don't know how we can have any control over that behavior.
