When i start up my trial copy of Acid 5.0, i get the error message, "MSSQL$SONY-MEDIAMGR does not exist or your account does not have enough privelege to manage it." The media manager does not then initialize. I am the only user of the computer and have administrator status (XP Home). The file with that name does exist in the Sony directory. Any advice? |

Do you have "Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (SONY_MEDIAMGR)" listed under the "Add and Remove Programs" applet in Control Panel? You should if it installed properly. If not, try completely uninstalling and then reinstalling the ACID 5 trial. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid Buy Instant ACID by JohnnyRoy and mD! Now! mD at ACIDplanet |

The program you mentioned was not listed in Add and Remove Programs. I uninstalled Acid and reinstalled, but it is the same situation as before. The only thing I noticed that seemed unusual about the install was that after the Media Manager installation procedure there was no window saying the installation had concluded, it just dumped me on the desktop. Any other suggestions? |

I.ve experienced the exact samething. The media manager still refuses to install. All i did was un-install acid 5 (not the demo), then when I re-installed there was problems. I got acid to initialize after 5 hours, i just kept double clicking on the acid icon. Between the vst plugin issue and the media manager, it's a mess, harsh words maybe, but sloppy coding , if ya ask me. I want to know (what and where) all the files that are installed on my rig when I install acid. Besides that ,acid when running works great and is very useful. |

Try uninstalling ACID 5 Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (SONY_MEDIAMGR) Completely delete the C:\Program Files\Sony\Shared Plug-Ins\Media Manager\MSSQL$SONY_MEDIAMGR directory Reboot Do not run any other application when installing (try to close as many system tray programs as possible). Run the ACID installer There should be a completion message box at the end of the SQL Server Desktop Engine, but it can take awhile to appear (30 to 60 seconds). At the end if you bring up the control panel > admin tools > services applet you should see MSSQL$SONY_MEDIAMGR listed. |

I have 3 things going on here. the media manager doesn't install, (after a un-install of acid pro 5 then a re-install) the vst plugin issue and i have noticed a clear corruption with the vst amplitude le . still haven't found out why the media manager doesn't install, fixing the amplitude problem is easy, I just remove it from my vst plugin folder then acid pro 5 will initialize, As for the media manager, i get an error with the media manager saying it doesn't exist and or i don't have the privalge to use it ,either way it's not installed on my rig. Once Acid is running there is no problems what so ever. I'll keep you informed of my findings. |
