Subject:trying to insert a softsynth/midi track

Ok, I am having a tough time figuring out how to sequence my software synth. I can't seem to get the piano roll sequencer or my actual keyboard to play the inserted softsynth (native instruments pro 53 express) but I can play the synth with my mouse in the properties window. I know that I am missing something but not sure what it is.

Is the MIDI track itself routed properly to the Pro 53? Is "enable real-time MIDI" enabled? (Options > Real-Time MIDI)

Make sure that your MIDI input is enabled on the MIDI tab under Options > Preferences.

I did all of that & what is happening is that I am designating my soundcard midi input but the OK button is not accessible (It is obsured by my taskbar) does anyone know how to get around this I can't click ok for my soundcard designations (ASIO drivers) or midi input & it is driving me crazy - either shrinking my taskbar or shrinking the option/preferences window so I can click OK on my changes.

Make sure your display resolution is a minimum of 800 x 600 (right-click a blank area of the desktop > Properties > Settings).

Right-click the Acid icon > Properties > Compatibility > make sure Run in 640 x 480 is not checked.

You can right-click the taskbar > Properties and check Auto-hide the taskbar.

It sounds like you need to switch your screen resolution to be a little higher. I would recommend 1024x768 at a minimum. (even if it’s just to press the OK button and get ACID all set up and then turn it back down again). What resolution are you running at 800x600?

yeah, theat was pretty much it. running at low res... after dinking around for like, an hour after posting I figured out how to "auto hide" the task bar & now all is well in Denmark (or Portland, OR...whatever) Thanks for the replies & I am sure that I will have more questions soon. I just bought Native Instruments Reaktor Session & hope this works ok as a VST instrument, as the express keyboards are ok for starters but not quite there, if you know what I mean.
