When I choose the ASIO driver in ACID, I can't play MP3s in WinAMP. What's the deal.

Vexing,

Rick

What part of my response did you not understand?

Again, ASIO drivers prevent MOST hardware from being shared between multiple applications. This is just how it is and nothing we can do about it. We give you an option to close

How do you have WinAMP "connected" to your Echo drivers? That is, what device specifically are you telling WinAMP to play through?

Did you contact WinAMP to see what they had to say?

Have you contacted Echo? What did they say?

<< What part of my response did you not understand?>>

The part where you actually explain why ACID v 5 is creating this problem where it did not exist in V3 or V4 and how to fix it.

<<We give you an option to close>>

Close what?

Why try to push the problem off on the other apps? There is something that ACID Pro 5 is doing. When I select Microsoft sound Mapper and Apply that should be the end of it. If not, ACID is not releasing something properly.

"we give you an option to close on ACID loosing the focus"

This is in the prefs page of ACID.

>>Why try to push the problem off on the other apps?

Because

- I cannot reproduce your problem.
- many times blame to ACID was in fact the fault of the "other tool" in the mix.

I can't fix what I cannot reproduce. It doesn't matter how much you blame ACID. If you don't want to work on possible other causes, then there is nothing I can do to help you - and I want to help you.

I do want to be able to understand and help you, so please answer these questions:

What mode do you have your Echo hardware in? PureWave or WDM?

Does it happen with Media Player or only WinAMP?

If you have two copies of ACID running, both assigned to the mapper, does one play and the other not play?
