I have the latest DVD Sony handycam after making the CD executable video file names become video TS BUP how can I directly transfer the file from the DVD CD to vegas by not capturing through USB or firewire? Is there any plug in for Vegas that needs to be install for direct video TS transfer? Your help and suggestion is highly appreciated. waiting for response..

Ohhhh dear... Oh deary dear.

Get ready for a shock... Vegas just does not work very well as an editor for those DVD Camcorders (or any MPEG source videos).

For many of us... that is not an issue... as DV is what we work on (mostly).

If you do a search here about those DVD Camcorders or MPEG editing you will likely find quite a number of posts about this that will explain it a little more thoroughly/

Those DVD Camcorders really need something like a giant sticker right on the store display camera and the boxes they come in that basically says: "Video editing not possible without deteriorating the video quality substantially". But they won't do that because they love to sell Sell SELL and they don't care how it's accomplished. They want your money first then they'll explain that you should have done your homework. But it's not your fault. Why wouldn't you think that. I was thinking the same thing about my Satellite TV. Now I have to convert it back to .avi and then back to mpeg again. It really doesn't look too bad, but it's the idea that it was in mpeg all along. I use to think the same thing and am only lucky the mpeg camcorders weren't common or available at the time. If you want to save yourself some headaches and be able to edit to your hearts content, get rid of the mpeg camcorder and get a firewire digital.
Or convert to .avi. If you have a decent A/D converter, it can look nearly as good as the original.

Are you sure you only have Bup files on the dvd? I dont have a handycam. I ask because I have a DVR dvd recorder that puts bup, ifo, and vob on the disk. All I need is the Vts_xx_x.vob files. Copy it / them to computer, drag them onto timeline.
Sure mpg. not the best for editing, but if thats what you have, thats what you have.
Another consideration, When i first tried it on my DVR it wouldnt copy with anything. I found out that was an issue resolved with a firmware update. You should check for that for the Handycam if you havent already.
